Default Need help can't stop buying ammo

I only buy ammo from Midway because I can pick it up with no shipping and they have not bad prices. But it seem that every times Midway has anything that I can shoot I buy it. Not that I need it. I don't shoot much anymore because I am getting to age where playing with my grandkids is more fun than shooting and I am thinking of giving most of my guns to my son this summer keeping only my carry gun and ammo for it. Yet I jump on anything Midway has. Maybe I need to see a shrink. Anyone else have this problem?

Actually, it'd be nice for you to stop so that someone who'd like to buy some for a day at the range can get some

you asked

Today Midway had some ammo. First 22 I have been able to buy from them in several weeks. Got two bricks of different stuff. Funny thing when I go to their web site there is nothing at all but checking on the forum I find links to ammo at Midway. Well I promise I will buy no more 22 from them. Maybe a little 45 for my carry gun but no more. Will leave it to you range hounds.

I know what you mean - I have recently bought 1000 rounds of .32 ACP, 500 rounds of .380 and 500 rounds of .38 special from Midway. That is about a 5 - 10 year supply for me.

Since I have a life, I cannot monitor their alerts 24/7, just like I cannot be at Walmart at 7 a.m. every day. Therefore, out of the hundreds of product alerts I've received, I've successfully bought maybe three. I've had much better success with Cabela's, and have also gotten some good deals from Palmetto State Armory.

Unless you are having to stack it on your porch due to lack of storage you do not have too much ammo.

Default Me too

I have the same problem too. I was down to 200 rds of .22 this winter. I didn't realize there was such a shortage! I've been raising kids which keep me busy. Since this winter I've bought about 3000 rds when I've found it. Just today I got 1000 from Cal ranch at REGULAR PRICES!! I swore to myself I would never be caught short again, so i buy it when I find it. 10000 ought to do me. I've also been a reloading fool this winter with my little single stager. Having lots of ammo in my storage feels like I have a bunch of silver coins or something. It's comforting...sort of.

Midway's product alerts are worthless. Never have I found any ammo from one of their alerts. All ways out seconds after I get the alert. Much better checkng on here to find stuff at Midway.

I'm still having a hard time with the fact Midway has ammo. I've run my phone battery down too many times searching for ammo. I just gave up on online purchases and now just buy from Academy or LGS if they have anything. Yes buying from Academy means standing in line but there is no other option other than paying $0.70-$1.40 a round for 9mm. I'm too cheap to do that so stand in line this grasshopper does. Sorry couldn't help myself.

Thats what my friends keep telling me but I am trying my best to slow down with the walmart ammo runs.

Then when you finally get enough accumulated all you want to do is look at it and not shoot it because you are afraid you wont be able to replace it...

OK, back to scanning UPC codes and checking the app....

You need to replace it..................if you go shooting.

Sounds like you don't shoot any more....................

Spend the money on the kids or take the wife out to dinner.

Default Grandchrildren

Been there done that as the saying goes. Gave most of my guns and ammo to my son. Spending most of my time with grandchildren going to T-ball and high school sports and everything in between. Camp Perry doesn't hold a candle to a granddaughter scoring a winning goal in high school or a grandson hitting a winning home run in Little league. And the best is yet to come.

Try it you'll like it.

Thanks Pop

I wish I could help but Ive got the same problem. I buy ammo from Walmart 3 times a week. Now, I've bought more than I can actually shoot. I actually put some of gunbroker at a reasonable price to recoup some of the cost. The guy who bought it ended up putting back on gunbroker at 3 times the retail, so I won't do that again. I'm gonna try and see if I can trade a bunch for another gun.

I don't mind people buying ammo that they can use or eventually use but the people that buy any ammo and then turn around and sell it even on this forum for 2 to 300% profit makes me sick. Is this the American way? If it is count me out!!!

Any time you have the urge to buy ammo, buy something for the kid instead. Then you will create a new habit that will gradually take over.

I kind of think that it could be possible that ammo that I give to my son could be one of the best things I could give him for the future. Giving him the means to protect his family because raising three kids he doesn't have money to stock up or buy weapons for protection.

What right do you have to pass judgement on a transaction that both seller and buyer agree too. What you and others with this attitude don't understand is this is how it works. Goods flow to where the demand is. If someone in Fla. buys ammo, puts it on gunbroker and someone from Maine buys it you have a prime example of how markets work. Interference in the market actually forces prices up and causes furthers shortages. The cost is meaningless as it is an agreed upon price that both parties agree too.

To the OP: It's your money, and I admire your honesty, even if I don't necessarily agree with what you're using it for in light of your admission that you don't "need" ammo. Still, it's something that'll never go to waste unlike some other goods. Put it to good use.

Price gouging isn't sacrosanct; everyone has the right to criticize it. I don't believe anyone is sounding a clarion call for the Nanny State to intervene. I also find the "interference in the market" statement ironic by virtue of the fact that purposefully tampering with the supply chain by depleting a brick-and-mortar's stock and then later reselling those goods at inflated prices ultimately results in artificial price increases and "shortages."

Individual reselling obviously isn't the sole cause of the problem, but it's a major contributor nonetheless. Fortunately, it seems that ammo manufacturers are starting to catch up on production, so this should cease to be an issue as the panic continues to subside.

I have no problem with the people who NEED the ammo. at those prices. I do have a problem with the people who take advantage of this NEED!

I have a right to complain when the transaction is to purposely raise the prices to take advantage of situations....I have as a matter of fact talk to people in the stores looking for ammo and when I ask them what gun they have and they tell me "Oh I don't own a gun I am just buying the ammo and resell it to make a few bucks" you can imagine what my next words to them are.
