Default Inexpencive 9mm Ammo

I'm starting to finally see cheap 9mm, again. Winchester White Box, Remington UMC, and Federal Champion. What are your experience with these brands? The Federal Champion's seem to be the best deal at less than $22 per 100. What do you think of this round?

Thanks.

I haven't had any problems with any of these brands, but I have read about squib loads with the Winchester value pack ammo on this forum.
In my experience the Winchester value pack and Federal champion are the dirtiest ammo I've used. These seem to be much dirtier than tula and Wolf classic, but still worked quite well and never gave me any issues
I haven't used UMC in a while so I can't compare it directly, but I do have a 250 round pack I'll eventually shoot.
If these are available in your area I wouldn't hesitate to buy them.

Just saw the Winchester White box at the local walmart, first 9mm Para since December I have seen, and bought a box. Have used White box in my 38special and the .380acp. Not shot any of the 9mm yet. I like the Winchester brass for reloading, and my reloads are normal more accurate than factory. I would also say pick up what you can, ammo seems to be coming back, just not fast.

Thanks for the replies.

I used to be able to get PMC and Fiocchi ammo for about the same price. I liked it so much that I used their hollow points for EDC. Now when I find it, it's twice the price.

I've been finding Rem UMC 250 packs as well as Rem 100 round at Walmart. All shoot about the same for me. Yesterday I picked up some Serbian PMC at WM. I have an Apex Sear and USB in my M&P FS 9 and this is about as good as I've ever shot it. Liked the PMC for target practice, hope I can find some more.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1369864686.654210.jpg

I would take any cheap 9mm ammo I could find. So far my best was remington fmj 115 gr. $15/50rd. Second best was same ammo at $18/50rd. Still looking for more. I have not seen any .22cal.

Of the three, I'd prefer the Federal, and avoid the Remington if possible. Dirty and inconsistent. My favorites, when I can find them, are PPU, RWS and Fiocchi, in no particular order.

I have shot all 3 out of my 3 different 9mm. No problems with any of them to speak of.

I have never bought federal, just because of the fact I have never seen it. Also, WWB I still pay about $15 per 50, because the 100rd box was $29.99 + tax. The cheapest I have seen is Monarch (I've heard it's the same as PPU), which is about $14 per 50, and only $12 for steel cased.

I found a few Rem UMC 9mm 115g FMJ bulk packs (250 rds) at bass pro last week. $69.99 ea. So, that's like $14/box. Shoots just fine in my Sig. Also found PMC 55gr 223 for $11.99/box(20) today. VERY happy ammo is becoming available at resonable prices again. Now if I can only find 38 spl!

Remington UMC is a little more expensive, but it is the best of all those cheaper brands...Their JHP loads are very good carry ammo- reliable, consistent and still not expensive.

I'd LOVE to find some in .380 - I paid over $44 for a 20 round box of JHP .380 last month...it was the ONLY box of any type of .380 in my area Cabelas.

I've been looking for .380 for a while and today I got all excited seeing a 50 round box. asked for it then glanced and saw 100rd boxes right next to it. It was a 1 box per caliber limit up to 3 calibers, so I took my box and was happy. $40 for WWB.

The best price on 9mm I've seen has been the WWB 100 rd. box for like $24.47 plus tax at wally. I was able to get 3 of these the other day. It is very slowly coming back around here. When some comes in, it's only typically 2 or 3 cases and is gone in a hurry.

My go-to target ammo is Winchester White Box, Remington UMC, and Federal American Eagle. They're all pretty cheap when prices are normal and they shoot great.

Of the three brands you mention Rem-UMC would be the last on my
list. I bought a couple boxes a few years ago and it is so underloaded
that it won't even cycle the action on several of my guns.

I just want to go through one day and not see or hear the words Walmart.
They have killed more small business and towns than China.
If worse case scenario ever happens I will be packing my 1860 .44 cap and ball. I would venture to guess I was the last sailor in the USN packing a .36 CB on board the USS Lawrence DDG4 in 1975. It was all I had at the time.
Yep I am bullheaded.

My son and I shot several hundred rounds of the federal and tulammo, which was cheap ammo we got at walmart. 10 bucks for 50. Anyway, he was using his Ruger SR9, and I was using my brand new SD9VE for the first time. The tulammo had no problems. Only had one FTF with the federal in my SD. Looked like a good striker hit, so probably a dud. All in all, we had better accuracy with the tulammo, but that could have been a coincidence.

My LGS has had Fiocchi in for the last 4 days running. I go get my two boxes everyday. That's all you can get unless you are picking up a weapon.
