Default magtech? any one used it before?

i picked up a 50 rd box of magtech 40 S&W(180 gr., fmc-flat) yesterday for $19.99.

has anyone used it before? I had never heard of this company, but since they were brass casing for the same price as blazer aluminum casing, thought i would give them a try.

anything i should worry about in my M&P 40C?

thanks...

Magtech is the trademark for ammo produced by a very large Brazilian manufacturer. I have used their primers and have shot some of their ammo. No issues with either one.

When I purchased an SD40VE a few months ago MagTech was the only ammo available at my LGS. Shot several hundred rounds of it. Later purchased a Shield 40. and it ate it fine too. It's Good range ammo.

I've shot Magtech in 9mm and .44 Magnum... same as others, no problems.. maybe a trifle bit dirtier, but that seems to be the trend with other ammo too.

I don't remember where it was that I read it, but it was mentioned that Magtech is also a supplier/maker for ammo sold by other known name brands as their "practice/target/valueline/generic" line of ammo.

No problems with Magtech in .380 acp, 9mm, 40S&W, and .45 acp. It is good range ammo and can usually be found at the lower price point.

I've used it before in my FS40, about 100 rounds if I can remember correctly. I can't remember what I paid but I think it was more than what you paid for it.

Purchased from LGS, the bottom line was it had no issues. The LGS also had good feedback when I asked about it's quality.

I would buy it again if needed.

I haven't shot it in 40, but have in several other calibers. They have a 230 grain 44 magnum load that is more accurate in my Marlin rifle than anything else I've been able to buy or load.
Their brass is top shelf too. I wish you could buy component brass from them. I believe it is headstamped "CBC".

Mostly .45ACP, perhaps better than Lawman HB. I think that I've also used .38 Spl and maybe .44 Mag. LGS sells it when he gets it, and pretty sure he's never had a problem reported. His gunsmith (and mine) recommends it.

I did some training with my brother and father and all 3 of us had magtech ammo. 750 rounds each later and none of us had any problems at all. I'd buy it again.

Magtech 230 gr hollow point is always loaded in my 1911. I've shot a lot of it, it feeds every time and shoots where I point. I trust it with my life...

I have some of their 9mm 115 gr FMJ. Underloaded like other cheap
brands of 9mm. Only chronographs around 1050 fps. It will not even
cycle the action of some of my guns.

Has anyone tried or seen a test of their solid copper hollow points?

I use Magtech all the time in all my guns including my little CS9 and I have never had a failure of any kind. I find it to be pretty clean and accurate. I have shot it in 9, 40, 45, 38, 357 and 44.

What are good numbers for 115 gr? 9 & .40 ??

Which ammo brands have tested positive for "ballistic integrity"

When it comes to auto pistol cartridges I guess I qualify as
a 9mm fan since I own fourteen 9mm autos, one 45 auto and
no 40 cals. I have chronographed lots of factory 9mm FMJ
ammo over the last several years and in my experience it
takes at least 1125 fps with 115 gr ammo for reliable function
in all guns. This is still mild performance 9mm ammo. Most all
chronographing has been done in my Browning HP and or my
Beretta 92 FS. Worst 115 gr has been Magtech, Wolf Copper,
PMP South African, Remington, Augila. Passible 115 gr has
been Russian TCW, S&B, CCI Blazer Aluminum, Federal AE.
Best 115 gr, 1170-1200 fps, has been surplus Danish, surplus
Finish marked Sako or Lapua, Hungarian MFS and other lots
of non corrosive surplus that came and went. Good 124 gr FMJ
1160-1200 fps has been older Geco, actual WCC Nato, FNM
Nato, Chinese marked China Sports, Norinco or Singapore.
Best 9mm ammo overall is made to European specs rather
than American.

I have used Magtech ammo of several calibers and have never been overly impressed. It's fine for punching holes in paper, but in my opinion that's about all it's good for. I currently have several boxes of .32 S&W Long, SJHP because it is available. It is made in Brazil.

X2 Not overly impressive, but ok plinking ammo at a decent price. I've found their 308/7.62 stuff to have issues in tight chambers. Their brass is ok to reload, rifle takes some more prep than mainstream American.

I've shot Magtech .38 Special for plinking, target practice, etc.

It seems to work OK for these purposes.
