Default Walmart ammo availability

I have read some other threads that claim ammo is back on shelves at Walmart. Horse pucky! Today in my area found 1 box of 30-30 4 boxes 30-06 a box of .270 and a few shot shells. I grabbed the 30-30 and two 30-06 for my 3 box limit. I will be going to the hamburg cabelas in the next two days to pick up a box of 22lr this forum alerted to me. Had it shipped to the store to save the cost and as an excuse to go and check out the ammo shelves. So how are the stores around where you live? Is it same as it has been? Or are you seeing more stock?

I managed to pick up 500 rounds of WWB 9MM the other day at the local WM and they've had 40S&W for a couple weeks now.

Many sporting stores locally are starting to have lots of ammo in stock - everything but .22LR.

We have had more stock and seems to be sticking a little longer than just a few seconds. 9mm is still the one caliber that gets sucked up first. Ive been lucky and scored a box of 250 mag tech, two 50 round boxes of brown bear ammunition (its got some type if lacker on the casing and hoping it doesn give me any issues, never have used it before) and just ordered the winchester white box count of 100 all from midway. The Stuff at midway is not staying on for long either.

One week and 450 rounds later...not bad at all

The shelves here are not as empty as they were a couple of months ago, but still not much here, and no .22LR of any kind yet. I heard the Wal-mart in the next town over got a small amount of what they call 1/2 bricks and they were gone in a couple of hours. I think that .22LR will be the last to get back to normal, but guns are returning to normal and dealers are getting more and more in stock, and some types of ammo are getting back to the shelves. It may well take a couple of more months before all is normal again.

Its been spotty, but I've managed to score some ammo now & then at Wally World. 40sw, 45acp, & 9mm. 22, I don't know as I don't shoot it. This is lately at a store that hasn't had any in months, and in the afternoon, not lurking around at six am waiting for the truck to get there. So I wouldn't call it "horse pucky"!

Without doing the (coming in at 5:30 am and waiting to unload
the truck deal) i'm still not seeing anything as far as the popular
calibers at my 2 local Wallyworlds. Been spot checking them when
i go there for other things like groceries and all i see are shotgun
shells and .270 and some .338 win mag.
But thats alright because i have a local gun shop with "cases"
and cases of everything....

Not in my local Walmart. Just a few boxes of shotgun shells and a box of 30-30.

I'm encouraged. I guess maybe because my county is the most guns per person in the state I have lots of competition for ammo. I hope it gets here before the year is out. I'm not dry by no means but being able to pick up a bottle of aspirin without running back to sporting goods every time would be nice. Lower my bill too.

To the extent that it existed, the ammo "crisis" is over in my neck of the woods. I have always been able to get what I wanted at LGS at normal prices, national chains are now generally following suite. Hope it clears up for you soon.

Gunsnwater, folks in the "ammo" forum --> Ammo <-- post sitings at WM as well as other places. It is interesting to read that some parts of the country are about flush, whereas others are still barren.

Except .22. It's Gones-ville everywhere. Glad I never developed that particualr habit.

22lr was always supposed to around according to all the gun rags as far back as the 70's when I started reading them. It was supposed to be cheap too. I never liked that you couldn't reload them. You can make jacketed bullets out of them.

Last Saturday they had a full pallet of ammo at 7am about 50 boxes including 22's, all Federal. Things are slowly increasing but rimfire seems to be the hardest to come by.

.22LR and WMR are still unobtainable in the Johnstown to Pittsburgh area of PA. The easiest and cheapest ammo; 5.56 NATO. Pallets of that stuff hit the region this month.

Hi:
I visited "Benton Sporting Goods" in Benton, Tennessee yesterday (Tuesday). The shelves were loaded with all calibers of ammo. The prices were "Heart Stopping"! I only looked at an impressive stock of handguns, rifles, shotguns and used the Mens' Room (no charge).
I took a second look at an array of Rossi Model 92s in .45 Colt caliber. Blued and Stainless. An really interesting one was a Rossi Model 92 .45 Colt in stainless with a 16" barrel (Trapper Model ?)

If the prices were "Heart Stopping" I'm glad it's still there. Lets leave it there!

Went to cabellas hamburg Thursday (yesterday) all the shot shell are now used long guns in the area of the gun library. They had 3 different powders. Winchester larg and small primers very few bullets to reload. They have a selection of 223 5.56 and alittle bit of most calibers in rifles, limited in hand gun but do have 38 sp 9, 45, 10, 40 ,32 no 22 rimfire had 17hmr and all shot shell but not in the old amounts.
Prices ok cheapest 223 was just under 10 dollars. Picked up a little ammo and a scout scope they didn't have last time.

Within the past few weeks I've visited Walmarts in Crestview, FL; Chantilly & Charlottesville, VA with the same result: bare ammo shelves. The only calibers they seem to have in stock are 20ga, .30-06 and .243.

I don't know what's going on around here in North Texas. Normally I pull up to the loading dock at my Walmart where I've paid off the staff, push the de-cloaking button in my truck to reveal the top secret entrance, locate my custom forklift, take a sip of the latte in the armrest, and load the pallets of ammo into the bed of my pickup. After parking my forklift, taking the latte, re-cloaking the entrance, and returning home, I post all the ammo on auction sites where I've found thousands of lazy ill-prepared people with more money than sense who don't have the privileged access I have to ammo.

However, today, my cloaking device failed. I had to actually visit a couple stores, walk in each store, and make a choice of which 3 boxes I wanted to purchase and which caliber I desired most. I got multiple boxes of each caliber I needed. Had this happen a few weeks ago as well IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON. What nerve these Walmartians have.

I seriously hope my platinum hoarder card is just damaged. I'm currently on hold with customer service 1-800-WMT-HOAR(D).

In case you can't tell, I'm REALLY tired of the "hoarder" defense for those that failed to prepare. Step up to the plate, realize what YOU failed to do, learn from the experience, and move on with life more prepared than before. It's a simple lesson I've learned the past XX years.

I've come to realize that WM not longer stocks their shelves. They now only plink them, and if your not there to catch the deflections your SOL!

Default If nothing else, Walmart is being pretty fair.

I have stumbled across a few rounds of 22LR at local WMs and the thing you have to credit them with is their pricing. While many others are charging in the range of 10 cents/round Walmart has had Winchester and Federal at 5 cents/round but not much of it. Their 1000 round box of Winchester at $47.+ is an example, their 555 Winchesters are less than $25/ box, where else do you see anyone holding prices like that?

They can't be faulted for the people who hang at opening to rush in and buy for resale. The 3 box limit is the best they can do and they don't hire people to fight with customers, they have simple rules and follow them.

Went to Cabelas (Greenbay) yesterday and they had a couple shelves full of 9mm no limit. Several of us starred in awe at the sight not sure how to react. They had good supply of 22LR but it was limit 2 boxes.

Around here, we can walk into pretty much all the stores and buy whatever caliber we want (including .22lr). The only thing they still dont keep in stock is the long lost .300 ACC. When it hits the shelves, it disappears the moment the first person walks by.

I think all these people in the South have found a new round to tinker with, lol.

We were actually doing pretty good here while most of the rest of the country was dry (Jan-May), but since May, it has been completely dry here in Central Florida. I think in the entire month of July I was able to get 300 rounds of 9mm, no 38, no 357 no 22, no 223. Even Dicks Sporting Goods, which was getting in TONS of ammo every Wed and Friday here has been dry.

Wife and I went to local W/M to grocery shop today at 15:30, she started on the groceries, I went to sporting goods to look. I almost passed out, the S/G manager was just unlocking the ammo case and had 12 boxes of Winchester M-22 .22LR 1K round packs @ $47.97 I called the wife and told her to leave the cart and RUN to meet me..... yep got 6 boxes and hoped I did not get mugged leaving the store.

[QUOTE=Smitty357;137352234

Fear is why there is a shortage.

No stupid people buying ammo all day long is... Everyone just needs to take a chill pill on buying ammo for a few months and this madness will stop, instead people are buying all they can still and waiting in lines for hours only to let the ammo manafactures and distributers know people are still willing to pay stupid price's.

Im not hording or reselling... I had exactly 65 .22 LR bullets left and have not been able to shoot the .22 for 2+ months. I won't buy any more untill I get low again, so others can also get some.

Wife did finish grocery shopping and I waited in the truck with the ammo fearing a broken window.

I rode along with one of my drivers with a load of ammo to 2 Wal stores today and saw that the paper work that we left with them was still not put out. I called the head manager of the store and told him I had complaints and the handgun ammo that we delivered a month ago wasn't put out on the shelves. Manager was upset and so was I.

Some employees have a little side income going on with the ammo. Not all I think a lot of them are honest but where there is temptation some will give into it. I am looking at Walmart as a barometer of supply in general. I looks like the distribution is uneven even taking area demand into account. I would expect Walmart to send more stock to stores that sell more. What I see seems to be some states get larger shipments then others. I live in a high demand area and when ammo comes in it is small quantities while other states report pallets. It does not seem to be small shipments not selling and building up. It would be nice to know the reasons for the difference. Is Walmart selling at different profit levels at different states? The Walmart beast is gigantic and it wipes out competition it would be nice to know more about its nature as we become more dependent on it.

All the complaining about "hoarders" is quite irritating. I was chastised on this site for 'waiting in line like cattle' to secure the purchase of .22 ammunition at Wall Mart. I do not resell, consume only.
PREPARDNESS!! That is all it is. To resell for profit is pure capitalism. GET USED TO IT!! Or take your Obama / democrat / union bumper stickers and move to what ever your favorite communist country may be.

You sir are part of the problem with the inflated ammo price's. Being prepared would have been buying ammo last year when the price's were good. Buy buying a lot of ammo now like everyone else is, is just letting all the distributers know they can continue to charge ridiculous price's since people are willing buy still and wait in line for it for hours. Also, I do not know why you keep mentioning the part that another member referred to you as standing in line like cattle. You kind of have to expect a comment like that when you brag about standing in line for 7 hours just to buy 2 boxes of ammo. This is a internet forum, do not take things to heart. This is a great sight with tons of great members and everyone has the right to their own opinion.

Well Eric Eric, some of us choose not to let the current situation get in the way. Where ammo is available some of us don't mind waiting in line for it. We find it much better putting in the work and pulling the trigger instead of complaining about it and blaming others.

Even folks who had a stash need to replinish it. Unless we are to simply Shoot it all up and spend the rest of our days ranting in some long forgotten corner of the Internet? Uh, no thanks. It's out there. It's for sale to everyone.

It's funny - those of us who act are called names by those who say to do nothing. After all, some magic is going to happen and this will all have been a bad dream.

Eric, I buy everything I can that is reasonably priced. In fact I bought stuff I can't even shoot last week. I've got a few hundred rounds upstairs I can't shoot. You know why? One of my friends who doesn't get around all that well can shoot it and at some point in the near future he'll re-pay me (and if he can't or doesn't, that's OK too). I also don't go out of my way or wait in lines. It's out there and has been, it just doesn't jump into the shopping cart. I take the responsibility to look for it instead of complain, whine, or blame.

I fully expect things to get worse over the next few years with threats of taxes (ala cigarette sin taxes), background checks, ... If it's there and at a reasonable price (by current standards), I buy it. So do my friends. As far as we're concerned, we're investing. I run my finances the same way.

I regularly see the people who do neither FOR either constantly complaining, looking to blame someone for their lack of planning. I also see them asking for handouts when they're caught later in life having never planned by saving. I often see these people with "common sense solutions" to be the FIRST to always go personal and call people names and/or label activities with "hateful terms".

I wish all them people would stop buying gas so I can get it for a dollar. Really wish the fed would stop printing all that phony money spending it on cronies giving to other countries that hate us buying guns for Mexican drug lordes to kill our boarder agents to prove their lies about our gun rights driving our dollar into the dirt causing things like brass and lead to cost more while getting short sighted gun enthusiast to pick on each other through the Internet they control and monitor with outrageous sums of our wealth instead of noticing that they are driving the bus straight to hell.

A few weeks ago, I was standing at the sporting goods counter in one of the local walmarts just eyeing the guns killing time while my wife was doing some school supply shopping for our son when I began hearing voices behind me. Turned around and two guys were standing there talking about 22lr ammo and how many they had scored at the various local walmarts so I decided to stay right there. It was 0630 and a sign was clearly posted that no ammo would be sold before 0730 and a three box limit. I kid you not, before long, more people were there and a small line was forming and here I was at the front of it when a store employee walks by pushing a buggy with ammo in it. The initial two behind me started mumbling about how they would share with those behind them if they were at the front of the line blah blah blah so the lady asks me, can I help you? To which I replied I'd like some 22lr ammo and her response was I only have two 1000 rd boxes of M-22 and of course I said "I'll take them". Call me selfish but I just wasn't in the sharing mood particularly with individuals making their rounds to buy up all they can to resell at the local flea markets. Did I mention that I love my wife?

Best.

Sentence.

Ever.

But, you are right. As hard as some of us fight for our point of view, others here will fight just as hard for theirs. Rarely is there any understanding. Hell, we barely tolerate each other.

I've got broad shoulders. In the future when name-calling and innuendo occurs, I will try to remember that if I respond in kind, all I am succeeding in getting done is to feed the fire.

First, after working in Moberly Missouri prison and Jackson County Mo. Jail for 25 years, kinda used to being called names. The key is NEVER return in like kind. Just consider the intellect of the name caller.

Second, caption to the attached photo should be 'MOO MOO.'

I just left my local W/M at 19:15 and did NOT buy any 9MM that they had on the shelf! They had more than 40 boxes of Federal 115G 50 count boxes for $14.37 and I left them all there, employee said its been there all day and he had more in back. Still had sign 3 box limit.

Hope that's a typo because it's about $3 more than last week. I fear not
