Default Anyone shoot the Remingto 38 SPL + P ammo that Walmart usually has?

Its usually in a 100rd box. What is your opinion on it?

I bought some to fire in my Ruger sp101 and S&W 640 Pro.

Also, anyone notice the big differance in price on some ammo between differant Walmarts? One store has that ammo for $8.00 a box cheaper than the others. How can they do that?

The Remington ammo you buy in Walmart is no different than the Remington ammo you buy anywhere else. You usually get what you pay for when buying ammo.

As for prices being different in different Walmart stores, yes, the prices are different. They usually tailor the prices of all their products to what the area market will withstand. (directly from them)

This is, per round, the least expensive 38 special my local Walmart sells. It's around $34/100.

I've shot ~100 rounds of it and have about 300 more put away. It's decent ammo, despite the fact that clerk at the Walmart I use always tells me that I shouldn't shoot it through my Model 28

You should listen. Clerks at WalMart are known for their expertise.

I wish my Walmart had some REM 38. I would buy some!

Default Anyone shooting Remington 38 from Walmart

If the Walmarts' are in close proximity, the price should be the same, no they should not be doing that! The bigger question is why do some WalMart Stores not have any ammo at all, while others do? I'm not talking weeks, more like months without ammo. I inquired and was told it is a supplier issue?? Really, all your suppliers are out!! Kind of hard to believe. You would think it would be system- wide, but it isn't. We have a chain in Central Texas named Academy, and they have ammo shipments every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday...Yes, they have a limit of one box per caliber, per day, and are usually sold out the same day as the shipment. Academy cannot be 1/100th the size of WalMart Corporation, and basic logic, WM should be getting a lions share of the ammo..Still selling rifles, and shotguns, but if you buy one there, you better have a source of ammo, because you can't buy what they don't stock, in Waco, Texas. Was wanting to talk to the Regional Manager, but he was in South Florida, on vacation..Hey, glad you can still buy ammo at your local WM,regardless of the price!

That's just sad even by Wally World standards.

OP, I don't know what +P load you found, but Remington's version of the old FBI load is all I've carried for years. It's good stuff, as is their 125 grain SJHP.

Hi. I believe you're referring to the RP 125gr JHP load, packed in 2 plastic stacked trays, brass cases. A decent enough little load, it shot accurately and to point of aim in my new 637PC 'Wyatt.' Safe to shoot in anything, if that is your next question. Certainly NOTHING like the RP 125gr JHP .38s of the '70s. Those were planetwreckers: flash and blast were extreme even in a 16" carbine bbl.

Used to be enjoyable buying ammo at Walmart before the panic. 100rd packs of .38 and .357 JHP, .45ACP at well under $30. "Not no more, Billy." 250 rd bulk packs of .38 RP burn-up ammo at $60-65. "Not no more, Billy." The ammo cabinet at my local Wally's has been halved and the available ammo is vestigial.
