Hmm, I am wondering this: someone told me I am crazy because I told him >90% of my ammo were imported, only 10% (JHP) are domestic, he was also surprised by my favoritism of foreign products over domestic: my tires (all season; winter type), pistol, toyota (Made in Japan), lots of food items, bathroom products (toothpaste, toothbrush, toilet tissues, facial cleaner, towels, shampoo/soap, OTC drugs), kitchen knife, wine, oil, camera/lens, scope, binocular, electronics, and most US made stuff are actually owned by foreign companies.

What shall I do to correct this? I am in Michigan and people are very sensitive about NOT buying domestic stuff.

In the real world,the market does decide.If the product is good and the price is right,it sells.

And stop telling your friends that most of your stuff was made outside US. None of their business. Try more mundane conversation topics.

It's also hard to find stuff made in the USA. But when I do I buy it.

I make my ammo, still looking for useable powders, tho. Cabela's has CCI Mini Mag 22 for like $8. per hundred, however, they've got a ridiculous policy of one box. They had lots of primers, too. Still lookin for Bullseye, 231, or HP38!

Hamburgers!

It may be time for a road trip. I was at Fin, Feather and Fur in Ashland Ohio (on I71 halfway between Columbus and Cleveland) yesterday and they had 8 pound kegs of HP38 for $120.

And they have bullets galore! I bought a box of 1000 plated bullets for .380 (100 grain RN) for $89.

Like Cabela's their primers are about $10 too high at $40 but they have plenty. You might make a side trip to Vance's in Columbus and get them for $30.

I bought a prepackaged pound of house branded hamburger from Kroger, (in a tube like Jimmy Dean sausage) and I swear it said that it contains beef from the USA and/or Canada and/or Mexico.

Even ammo from American companies might really be imported. Winchester white box has actually contained ammo made in Israel (IMI) , Serbia (Prvi) and Czech Rep. (S&B). Olin Corp supposedly has interests in those companies.

And from what I'm hearing , due to high demand/low domestic production , much of the powder sold for reloading and used in domestic ammo is actually imported from Australia , Scotland and elsewhere.

And even the "made in USA" items have raw materials that are imported. My F150, the symbol of a real American, has an oriental made 5-spd tranny and the Ford Fusion, a best seller world class auto, is assembled in Mexico.

Even if the components are outsourced, the American worker has a job and gets paid to assemble the product.

I'm still buyin' USA-Made whenever I have the chance!

I don't care where something is made. I want a quality product at a competitive price.

If it means made in the U.S.A., wonderful. If not, that's o.k. as well.

If overpaid, underworked union thugs can't understand that, I don't have time for them.

I buy what works! And keeps on working. I shop for quality because I hate buying it twice. Durability and longevity with reliability and quality control. I have two Nissans and a Toyota!!!

It may be true that guys that drive Toyotas, wear sandals, drink light beer, and buy plastic guns might be a little, well , we wont go in to that . However, when it comes to ammo , there are alot of people who do not trust Remington, Federal, Winchester anymore. The conspiricy
says they have been mandated by the federal gov to switch the chemical composition of their primers for "enviornmentally safe" reasons(thus creating bullets that will "expire"). I know alot of people who only buy the stuff made overseas, for that very reason. Weather the rumor is true or not,
it has had an impact on what brands alot of people will buy.
They figure the ammo made to supply most of the eastern hemisphere
in wartime, isn't as likely to be "corrupted" like the ammo being offerred to u.s. citizens , since disarming the U.S. citizens is part of the agenda. Overseas made ammo will be shut off when the UN small arms treaty is signed in October (?) I didn't come up with this theory, just relaying what I have heard/read over the last 18 months .
I hope it's all baloney , but one must keep an open mind about this kind of thing. Nobody wants to be in a life/death situation and pull the trigger and only hear a click . It may be best to have a wide assortment of ammo brands in your stash "just in case" .

Yikes, we'll as long as it doesn't come from China. For that matter, 'beef' from Australia might be suspect too, you see, they have this kangaroo problem down there!

Only 11.5% of workers are union and only 6.5% of that number is employed in the private sector. The rest are Public and Government workers, so it's not a factor.

If you believe the foreign products are superior or a better value then you should feel no shame. There are very good US made products available. The big issue these days is multinational companies. If you buy a Toyota pickup truck made in San Antonio, TX is it foreign or domestic? Personally, I load 90% of my ammo and can honestly attest that it was domestically produced.

Ive been carrying this old,off brand 22 lately.Not much for bears,but rabid chipmunks are doomed.

Stay away from that burger-in-a-tube - that stuff is nasty - I don't care where you buy it. Thank god we have a local meat market here!

I'm in Michigan too and know people are thin-skinned about this kind of thing. Just remind them that their American cars, even IF they are made here, are FULL of parts made overseas... they very conveniently forget that fact.

When my rural mail carrier wife had to have a vehicle to deliver mail in we shopped through many vehicles and my wife said that the Mitsubishi Montero would work best for her (she had to steer with her left and deliver with her right). When I got to work I was asked by several people why I bought a Japanese car (truck, jeep??). Since I had a good explanation they grudgingly let me off that time.

I've yet to have an argument with one because I drive a foreign car.
