Default Sportsman's Guide ammo

Has anyone else ordered ammo from Sportsman's Guide? I got a really good deal on 2500 rounds of CCI Blazer and I ordered it January 6th, 2013 and it has been backordered 4 times now. The new estimated delivery will be January 14th 2014. OVER A YEAR!

Is it CCI Blazer that is in such scarce supply, or is Sportsman's Guide hard to get ammo from? If it wasn't for the price I got, I'd let the order cancel... but I'll wait it out. Just curious about others experiences with ammo from Sportsman's Guide.

I had a similar experience last year; gave up on them.

If they say it's in stock, I order from them. Never had a problem that way. On back orders, I give them one time through and then cancel it, they are not the best at filling back orders, in my opinion.

In fairness, they cannot control the fact their suppliers keep changing dates on them, SG is not purposefully keeping you on the hook.

I ordered two buckets of Golden Bullets for like $110 shipped back in March. Just got my third or fourth backorder notice, eta is now December.

I haven't been charged yet.

If it ships, it ships. No big deal to me either way.

I use them all the time for 7.62x54r, 45ACP, and .223/5.56. If it's in stock, and I want it, I'll order from them with no hesitation.

There are also times when I'll order knowing the ammo is on backorder simply to lock in a good price with the understanding it could be a LONG time before I'll get it.

As long as you understand the backorder date is often very fluid you should be OK. That's the trick to being a happy SG customer.

Their coupons make them great to buy from since you can often get free shipping. Being a member also gets you better pricing, but for those who don't understand that a backorder date is likely to change it can be a frustrating experience.

I've used them to hoard ammo this year. I think I have ordered from them two or three times without any issues.

Personally I think they "Pull A Vacuum" and will not order anything from them. If they send a catalog it goes straight into the trash.

+1 . . . Even when the market was "normal" delivery times sometimes shifted. Not sure about right now, but in the past their prices have more than made up for the inconvenience.

Oh, and my wife will tell you I am NOT a patient person by nature.

I have bought 7.62 X 39 twice and a can of 7.62 X 54R off of them the last couple months.

the 54 R and the first order of 39 I waited a few days and it had not shipped so I emailed them about it and the next day they shipped it. The second order of 7.62 X 39 they shipped it the next day. Must have thought "oh god not this PITA again... lol

I started buying some things from them after cheaper than dirt turned into rat *******s. They buy huge bulk, if you get back ordered it takes them awhile because you have to wait for the next huge shipment. They have always filled every back order I had with them.
