Yes---ANOTHER Ammo thread because im giving a ""Heads-up.""
I couldnt get here earlier because of stuff happening but want to tell anyone here on the site who are in or near Corpus--that you guys can score all the popular rounds and I mean right now.
Academy Sports and Outdoors:
They have a 2 box limit--HOWEVER, one of the ladies working there sold me 6 boxes of 22 LR because nobody had been buying it that day. They literally had a "wall" of the Winchester and the CGI? stuff in as well as the other pop/ rounds. That was as of 8PM this eve (Sat)
I next made my way to WM--expecting to see nada on their shelves. I like being wrong at times-and I was wrong this time.
They had every thing in abundance except for one pop round. They had about 20 or so boxes of promotional sized boxes of 223 for about $60. They had about 100 boxes of Winchester 100 round packs for about $28 and change, and about 40 boxes of 550 round 22. They also had all kinds of other promo and other goodies. This was as of about 8:45 tonight. So, you can find what you want but--I stress BUT---this is going to be one of those more miss than hit things at WM--meaning--that AINT--a sign of a recovering ammo scarcity situation. Anyway, I got only one 100 round pack since ive over-spent on ammo this month already.
Just wanted to pass this along to any forums members in my area and where they can get it if they want it?

By the time I read this, it was too late to catch a plane.

It has been a very slow go, no question about that but I truly do believe things are on the up-swing. I see what I think (HOPE) is a slow but permanent increase in the availability and reasonable pricing of all ammo. Still have a ways to go but I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.
The haters have hit us a hard lick but we're still here....bloodied but unbowed.

Since we are updating ammo deals. Dont think too many people here are into this ammo but.....
AIM Surplus has 5.45 surplus ammo. If you buy a crate (2180 rounds) $359. They give free shipping. Comes to about 16 cents a round

Whenever I'm in the area I check that academy. They usually have what I'm looking for (CCI .22 and 9mm), never bulk packs though. I never checked wal-mart but now may have to. The walmart by me never has .22 and just recently has 9mm rem for 14.99 (little high for me)

Academy is more hit than miss for me. Im always finding 9mm or 22--sometimes both. Sometimes I go for only one or the other-finding the opposite of what I wanted--but I still buy what I can then.
BTW--which WM do you frequent when in the area? I go to all the ones here and have found the one on Gollihar and Staples-the one that gets more in than the others. The one on Saratoga is always bare so I stopped going there except on occasion. The worst two to go to are on Greenwood and the one in Calallen.

The closest Academy to us is about 30 miles down I-75 but my wife was down there at a craft store in the same shopping center. She went by Academy to ask about .22LR. The manager told her that they got a shipment every Wednesday. He said there was a group of guys who met every Wednesday morning across the street at the Waffle House for breakfast and then came over to wait for them to open at 8. He said all the .22LR is gone, usually by 8:15.

Re: OP. You are very fortunate. In my area one can from time to time find 5.56mm, 7.62x38mm, etc. But there is absolutely no .22 LR ammo of any sort to be found anywhere at all except one LGS. They have Rem. Thunderbolts... for $6.99/50. And... they have Eley .22 LR ammo for $14/50. Limit is one box/customer/day. It is a 71 mile round trip drive to that shop, so I don't buy the ammo. The other day I found a man who had for sale 3 boxes of the Winchester 333 .22 LR ammo. I've not ever used it before, but I bought it. It was the first .22 LR ammo I've seen that was not limited to one or two 50 rd. boxes. I do hope everyone will be able to find the .22 LR ammo they want. And I do hope that sooner than later .22 LR ammo will be available in this area. The little supply I had put aside is dwindling.

The best of the 4 Wms here in CC to go to is the one on Staples and Gollihar. The one on Saratoga is aklways stripped when I go and ive never got lucky there. The one in Calallen is always bone dry, and the one on Greenwood aint much better.
I go to Academy almost as much as I do the WM on Staples--and only once were they completely out of anything I wanted-so I used that trip to buy one of those wooden Wild Life ammo boxes.

Thunderbolts here fro a 50 round box is about $2.99 @ Academy--WM I think is a little cheaper. The last time they had Winchester 22 50 rd box, I THINK it was $1.77??? but I last saw them in stock about 3 months ago. WM has a3 box limit for most-but the promo boxes one per.
