Default LGS SCORE!

Well, not a MAJOR score, but I got a 525 round brick of Winchester HP 22's today for $25 + tax!

I was making my rounds of the LGS's today and in one of the little hole-in-the-wall place I saw one lonely brick sitting on the shelf all by itself.

I asked the guy behind the counter "How much?" and braced myself for the answer.

When he said "$24.99" I did a quick double-take and calmly said, "OK, that's not too bad - I'll take it".

Wish he'd have had a couple more. This is the first 22 I've seen for less than 10 cents per round since I moved to this area in July. Nice to see that not everybody is trying to make their fortune on price gouging 22 ammo.

I gave the guy my name & number and a short list of guns I'm looking for and he said he'd call me if anything on the list came in.

I think I'll be doing more business at this establishment.

I still haven't scored any .22 lately but was at Wally World today and almost you know what myself, they had the cabinet full of center fire ammo, looks like they may need to remove the knives out of the ammo cabinet soon.

These days finding a brick of 22LR ammo on the shelf for less than $40 is a major score IMO. I have not seen any for a very long time.

I was at Dick's Sporting Goods last week and they were asking for $29.95 for a 325 round box of Winchester 22LR ammo.
I passed on it!

Good for you! The last brick of .22 LR I found was several months ago... $29/500. That was the first .22 LR ammo I'd seen in any store since February of 2013.

Last month my local Walmart had bulk and non bulk 22 LR on at least 3 occasions. They are still limiting purchases to 3 boxes but don't seem to care how big the boxes are. I purchased the following on different visits.
1. 3 100 rnd boxes CCI MiniMag
2. 3 1000 rnd boxes Winchester M-22
3. 3 550 rnd boxes Federal Bulk
The trick is being in the store when they stock the shelves since it goes fast. So I researched what time my WalMart unloads the trucks and it paid off. Hopefully January will be another successful month.

How dare you buy that ammo! You were supposed to leave it on the shelf for, well for...

Hey does anyone remember who the whiners say to leave ammo on the shelf for?

Seriously though, good get!

Well, I made a much smaller, but even better cost per-round score today. Another LGS posted on the local Gun Trader board yesterday afternoon that they had Blazer 22lr IN STOCK - and for only $1 a box!

I got there at their "normal" opening time (10 am) and found out the limit was 2 boxes per person. They opened an hour and a half early today and at 2 boxes per customer when I got there they were down to only 10 left! It was just barely worth it to drive over there for only 100 rounds, but since I had to go to the optometrist to pick up my new glasses anyway, it was only an extra 8 miles or so added to my round trip.

While I was there I also picked up a good-as-new Uncle Mike's ambi holster for $2. So between the two bargains I guess it was worth the few extra miles. Sure wish they would have sold me more than 2 boxes though. I'd have bought 50 if they would have sold 'em to me!
