Thumbs up Cabela's

Just want to put a good word in for Cabela's. They shipped the brick of Remington .22s that were backordered Dec 17 and honored the price ($21.99) and the free shipping. From what I've read not every vendor is doing this.

Cabela's prices are not always the cheapest, but I have never seen them price gouge like some do. I have always been satisfied with Cabela's.

At .04 per round I wish they hadn't had a one box limit.

Default Great Company!

They are a great company that does things the right way.

I have one right down the road from me in CT, and I go there all the time. I have seen the same faces in there (employees) for years. They take care of their employees, and they take care of their customers.

I bought a Jacket for myself right before Christmas, and it went on sale right after. They let me "return" it and "Re-Buy" it saving me like $60.00 and it was not even an issue.

I get ammo from there often, and while it may not be the cheapest available, they always have something in stock, and they don't gouge. I'll spend an extra $1.50 per box with them, instead of going to Wal*Mart.

They're often right in line with Walmart around here. WW has Federal 9mm at $14.77, Cabela's just had Blazer Brass for $14.99 and Herters for $13.99. Fed Auto Match 325 .22lr is $18.77 at Walmart, Cabela's had it for $17.99. Some are higher, some lower, but they're usually in the ballpark.

I agree too. I recently went to my local store to pick up my box of .22 and got a FS 9mm magazine to go with the 9mm barrel I backordered with Midway for my FS M&P40 (it also works in my M&P9C). They were a little higher than Midway, but I thought "one in hand" and checked out with it anyway. I mentioned it to the clerk and without batting an eyelash - he matched the price - even though it was an on-line merchant. I've bought quite a bit of various caliber ammo from them over the past year. They're not always the cheapest, but never gouge and considering it ships free to my local store and I don't have to wait in line, or drive all over the county... Well, I'm just glad they are in my area.

I want to know how you got Cabelas to back order ammo. I've had three orders this past week cancelled due their over selling inventory. I spoke with customer service twice about why didn't they give those that got their orders cancelled first option when it restocked. Was told they did not back order ammo and sometimes they are unable to stop taking orders at the same time they run out. Out of four orders I placed this week, I got one filled and shipped.

Cabela's has always been very reliable for me as far as filling orders once I've got confirmation. That said, from what I'm seeing on other forums they really dropped the ball this past week. About the only way you get a backorder is if it's automatically generated by their system when they oversell an item for whatever reason. Most of the time when that's happened to me, it's changed to "in process" within a day or 2. There's been a few items they've solicited backorders on, like Herter's centerfire ammo. Those will say "backorderable" when you view the item. Unfortunately, their customer service can't do much for you with questions about backorders, cancelled orders, etc. If you call about a backorder about all they will do is offer to cancel it. They have no info about what's coming in or when. They really don't even know what's in their warehouse, they only know what's listed as available on their site. Maybe they SHOULD have all this information, but they do not. Usually their system somehow winds up delivering your ammo once an order has been accepted, so let's hope it get's back to normal.
