Picked up 4 boxes of 40 S&W for my 40c. This gun eats anything. I didn't feel the need to try a box first, so I stocked up. Failure to feeds were at least 30%. Even racking the first round.

The 9mm ammo went through a Springfield X9 4", without any problems.

Nothing on paper.. the kids were just dusting up the junk out in the desert where lots of people go shoot and leave stuff behind.

Not quite accurate enough to set off a jug of "Tan" at 50 yards
but a .223 fixed that problem.

The best deal I have found in inexpensive range ammo is Freedom Munitions new 124 gr 9mm FMJ. Came out to $11.50 a box with free shipping in lots of 500. Good clean shooting ammo. All my 9mms love it.

I have recently seen 40 S&W on sale at several mail order dealers (Bud's Gun Shop and Sportsman's Guide, to name just two) in the range of $14.50 to $16 for a box of 50 rounds. Many times they offer free shipping and NO TAX. I recently purchased five boxes of 9mm Remington for $11.50 per box with free shipping.

I have used over 1,000 rounds of the 9mm Perfecta and never had a FTF or FTE. Walmart has it by me for $9.89 for box of 50. Great for range work.

Just found and bought my first box of Perfecta cartridges today. They are .45 ACP (50 rounds) and it was the only box they had at my local Walmart. I paid $15.44 plus tax. I've paid less for Cabela's "Herters" house brand using sales plus incentives, but I had to try out this other economy brand too. I was unaware until this afternoon of the very mixed experience with Perfecta ammo until I found this thread.

We'll see how it goes. With luck, I'll be at the range tomorrow afternoon. I'll try it with a couple pistols and report back on my results.

Okay, I'm back from the range, and the results for Perfecta .45 ACP ammo for me were...

Mixed. Or maybe "inconclusive" is a better word.

I tried the Perfecta ammo in three range-owned guns:

1) Sig P220 - Worst shooting I have ever done with this particular pistol (a personal favorite). Hard to explain unless it was the ammo. Still, no malfunctions of any kind. Tried some WWB ammo to compare and I did noticeably better with it.

2) Remington 1911 - This has been a buggy gun generally, but it supposedly had been fixed. I had multiple failures to feed but I acknowledge it could have been the gun, not the ammo. Accuracy, when it did fire, was not too good (about as bad as the P220). Tried the WWB ammo and it did better but not by a whole lot.

3) S&W M&P45 - To my surprise, 15 rounds of Perfecta with no malfunctions and all in the bullseye. There went my assessment that the Perfecta ammo sucked right out the window.

So should I buy more Perfecta or not?

I'm probably not going to buy more right away. I want to try some equally inexpensive PPU brand which I'll buy at a show on the 30th. After that, I'll make a judgement and go with whatever makes the most sense. My options for range use are WWB, Federal, Herter's, Perfecta or PPU.

In .380 it tan great in a Jennings that I was playing with. Nary a problem in 250 or 300 rounds.

I had one ftf out of 50 in a Hi Point .45 pistol.

I had numerous jams with it in a Kel Tec P11, but it was a new pistol and now seems to run.

I made a Jennings Nine run about 98 percent on the stuff. Which was no easy task.

I have had one failure in my CZ SpO1, a failure to go into the battery. The gun was hot and dirty.

I have not noticed issues with it in .223 fired from a Bushmaster and a Mini 14

Discounting entirely the results from that buggy Remington 1911, which I purposely chose as a "worst case" poor ammo feeding gun, the Perfecta ammo certainly behaved differently (accuracy-wise) in my favorite P220 vs. the M&P45. Can't say that I've ever seen that much variation out of a .45 ACP pistol before just due to ammo brand.

Prior to today, I've shot WWB, Federal and Herter's out of that same P220 with equally good results... always 230 grain FMJ with never a jam and same excellent accuracy limited only by my skill level. Today kind of shocked me. But then the M&P45 shocked me even more by delivering perfect performance with the same dang ammo.

It was too much of a difference to just say different guns like different ammo. If the Perfecta ammo can't perform adequately well in every .45 I own or am likely to pick up, then it doesn't belong in the stash.

That said, more experimentation is probably warranted before I write it off entirely.

In the last couple years, me and my best shooting buddy have both run a few boxes of Perfecta, with no issues. We've shot 9mm, 223, and .45acp.
Lately, I've been checking my local Wal-marts for more of the Federal aluminum 9mm that I've been real happy with, and runs $9.97 a box, but it's been a little scarce lately.
I'm freindly with the guys and gals that man the counters at my 2 favorite Wal-marts, and when I was leaning way over the counter trying to eyeball me some cheap 9mm, one girl told me she may have some Perfecta in the back, and that it was running cheaper than the Fed alu, and she went hunting it for me. I thanked her and said I'd be good for maybe a couple boxes.
She came back with six boxes, priced at under $10 after tax, which i thought was awesome, and I ended up grabbing 4 of them.
Well, for no good reason other than curiosity, I did an interwebz search for reviews on them later that night, and ran into all these hellacious complaints.
So, I checked the ammo for seating variations (it was fine), and the next day, I went and blasted a box just to double-check, and it ran flawlessly.
I've shot the stuff in a Glock 17, S&W Shield, Springfield 1911,Walther PPS, CZ452 bolt action, and maybe more, I forget, and my buddy's shot it in other stuff.
We can't figure out what all the grumbling is about. Our current theory is that there's just a whole bunch of limp-wristers out there !

My buddy grabbed some Perfecta for his .357 I almost laughed when he shot it. They must load them like a .38 because that's exactly what it felt like.

I've used a fair amount of perfecta 158gr 357 mag... It chronos for me @1190fps which is on par with American eagle 158gr 357 out of my 4" barrel

I've also shot a fair amount of perfecta and AE 38special and the 357 does not feel like that.

This is in a 686 SSR

I was able to grab a couple of boxes of 357 158 grain when I was in central PA last week. I shot a box last weekend and it seemed about the same as the Federal 158's. The only bad thing is that they can't seem to get it in the Kansas City area, talked to one guy at the counter and he said that his district manager hasn't seen the 357's in any of their stores, but they did have some of the smaller stuff.

My Remington 1911 will go through a few hundred rounds of winchester white box without issue but perfecta failed to feed about 20% of the rounds

It's those occasional flyers that bother me about the Perfecta ammo I've tried. Are they me? Or are they the ammo (or ammo-gun combination)? I sure as heck get a lot more flyers out of Perfecta than out of any other range ammo I've used... that's for sure.

Is it just me? It could be. I'm not so perfect that I can't admit to that possibility... but I sure wish I could know for certain.

A little greater spread I can live with to save some money... but having those flyers spoil my targets is just plain embarrassing.

I've shot Perfecta in 38spl($14) and 357mag($16) out a 2.5" PC 686 at 7 and 10 yards. No misfires and decent grouping. The 357 was not under powered at all.
The Perfecta 9mm($9)all fired without issue and decent grouping out of a Sig P938.
The Perfecta 45ACP had really good groups out of a Ruger Redhawk 45LC/45ACP revolver using moon clips and a Smith 745 auto indoors up to 50 feet.

I've shot probably a 1000+ Perfecta in several calibers without a missfire or ftf/fte in the autos

The brass is good for reloading.

It's hard to beat at less than $15/50 .223 and $14/50 .40... I haven't been able to find it in .223 recently though

I have put a few hundred rounds through of the perfecta 9mm. I like them a lot. No problems at all. Love the price at $9.97 here in springfield. Can't beet it for the range.

Not only are they making it, it's brass cased with a brassy looking bullet. I think Tulammo is just providing cheaper distribution and shipping. I could be wrong.
I've been buying it in 9mm at Walmart for 2 years now at $9.78 per box of 50 and no sales tax here...until it dried up about a month ago. The Perfecta .308 has been deleted and the other handgun calibers are sparse. It shoots great, in a variety of 9s that I own. No malfunctions.
Anyone have info. I called Walmart and they will get back to me, whenever.

Due to the very good price and availability of the Perfecta 9mm at Walmart I don't reload the caliber.

Funny how the Jennings had no issues but the far more expensive handguns had issues. I would be considering that in my future choice of firearms

I've put at least 300 rounds of this stuff through my Glock 17 and 200 or so through my sub 2000 and never an issue
