Default Perfecta ammo at Walmart

Just wondering if anyone has tried the new ammo offering at Walmart yet, Perfecta Ammunition. At $16.97 for 50 rounds of 40SW the price isn't bad. The box information reads 170 grain FMJ, brass case, non-corrosive boxer primer, but it gives no other specs.
I believe it's made by Fiocchi, but on the back of the box it says it's distributed by Tulammo. The Walmart that I checked only had it in 40SW, but I've heard others say that it is available in 9MM and 45 auto also.
I bought a box to give it a try, although I haven't shot any of it yet. To be honest I didn't see the mention of Tulammo until I got it home. It seems that so many have had problems with the steel case Tulammo that if I had seen that, I might not have bought it. But since it specifically stated that it was brass case and non corrosive primer, hopefully it will be fine.
If anyone has tried it yet, chime in a let us know how it worked. With the ammo situation as it is, sometimes you have to buy what's available, not what you want.

Fired a little over 3,000 rounds of Tula steel cased 180 gr. FMJ's through a Glock 22 RTF. Very good ammunition. Excellent function and accuracy. Never a problem with the ammunition. Have used it also in a SA 1911-A1 Mil-Spec. Fully equal to any domestically produced ammunition. Brass case would be a plus for reloading. Possibly Tula is sourcing brass cased ammo from Fiocchi. Fiocchi has been very good in my handguns.

Totally new to me! It appears that Fiocchi is making this ammo for Tulammo to be sold to Walmart.

Did you happen to see any 9mm in this brand?

Thanks for posting the pics!

I didn't see 9MM at this time, only 40SW, but I was told that it was available only starting this week and will be available in 9MM, 40SW, and 45 auto.

-I don't reload or know anyone who does, so I usually just buy CCI Blazer. My local shop sells Blazer .40S&W for $16.99/box, but right now they have it on sale for $15.99/box. But that ammo does look interesting...

Tula had their BrassMaxx line that was made in Italy (probably by Fiocchi as well) I wonder why they switched to Perfecta branding? Perhaps they wanted to escape the negative connotation people associate with Tula?

Just wanted to do a quick update on the Perfecta ammo. I finally got a chance to go to the range today to shoot the Perfecta ammo in my 40 Shield. I thought that I had better take advantage of the nice weather, the temperature got up to 80 this afternoon, but it's supposed to turn cold and snow tonight. Unbelievable!
Any way, the Perfecta ammo shot perfectly, as did the Shield as usual. No hiccups whatsoever. I guess I'll start taking advantage of this brand of ammo whenever possible.

I haven't shot any .40cal lately (or any other caliber) but is 170 grain bullets a new weight ? I recall 165 and 180 but not 170.

I'm like you, it seems that the most commonly found 40 is either 165 or 180. I'm not sure why Perfecta went with the 170 grain bullet, unless it has something to do with Metric conversions since the Perfecta is made in Italy (but I'm just guessing). But I do know that my Shield liked it. It was as accurate as any Winchester White Box or Federal loads that I have shot, and it didn't leave any more deposits than any other brands. It loaded and ejected perfectly, with no problems whatsoever.
The specs on the Perfecta (Fiocchi) 170 grain works out to be 1050 fps and 410 ft. lbs. vs WWB 165 at 1060 fps and 412 gt. lbs from what I've been able to find, so they are very similar rounds.
All I can say is that it worked well. It's good to have another brand out there to choose from. Sometimes you just have to take what's available, and at least now I know that this one works well for me.

Tulammo (steel) and Tulammo Brass (brass) are loved by my M&P 9 and my High Point 995 Carbine... And I like the price...

I have no idea if Ficocchi makes this, BUT original Fiocchi 170 gr. is to be avoided like the plague as it causes countless guns to misfeed. Don't ask me why. Google it and read the horror stories.

Last Nov. I had an HR218 qual coming up and I was short of "fresh" factory .40 S&W ball to use in my G27.
I checked my local WM and found they had a new to me brand of ammo. BrassMax by Tulammo .40 S&W 170 gr. FMJ.
I looked over a box and it seem OK so I bought 50 rds. to try thru my G27. It was just under $20/50 rds. ($19.97?)
It functioned 100% but seemed a little weak. I went back to WM and bought my allowed 3 boxes. They had about a dozen boxes left.
I used it for my qual...shot 100% and the rest is history because...WM has not carried it since in any caliber.
It runs very well in my SIG P229 also.
The brass is very reloadable.

Just picked up some Perfecta 9mm at the local Wally World; $13.99 a box.

Hopefully the G19 eats it all. Anyone know what this FMJ is? Brass? I've never seen a bullet this color.

I bought two boxes to try out in my m&p 40 vtac. First round did not want to feed. It might have been due to the magazine being limited to 10 rounds. I live in liberal socialist controlled California.

Local wallys had perfecta in 45acp. FMJ 230g with good looking brass cases. I only picked up a box since it was new to me, but they had 20 or so in stock. I believe it was 18 and change a box. The winchester right next to it was 21 a box. Good or bad, I'll let you know.

I've bought Perfecta .380, and have no issues to date. $14 vs $21 for Winchester White Box.

I shot about 200 rounds of Perfecta .45 and at least that many 9mm that were available at my Walmart. They were way cheaper than the other offerings and since I was using them for practice I bought them. They ran perfectly in my 4506, Md 39-2 and Md 5906.

Picked up another 50 box of 9mm Perfecta, heading to the range this evening to do some plinking.

If I have any issues, I'll be sure to report back.

But to be honest, I don't expect there to be any issues.

Well, another great trip to the range!

Joined a new indoor range and had it all to ourselves for a hour or so.

Fired the 50 rounds of Perfecta fired through my Ruger SR9C and my buddies Rock Island TAC 1911 (9mm).

We fired magazines of the Perfecta followed mags of WWB.

Both functioned perfectly.

I recently shot 100 rounds of this through a brand new Sig P290RS. Out of 100 rounds, I had one misfire. I tried the restrike capability of the pistol, and the round again did not fire. Hit it twice and still looked like a light primer strike, compared to the fired brass from the pistol. Also had one fail to feed on the last round of an extended magazine.

Since this was the first one hundred rounds through the pistol, not sure if it was the gun or the ammo.

I wanted to get some more 5.56 ammo and stopped at the local Wally World to check their prices, not really expecting anything on the shelves. They had two 50 round boxes of Perfecta .223 ammunition, priced at $18.97 each. As normal, no one was around the sporting goods counter, so I walked over to Automotive and asked them to page someone for me.
Four pages and 20 minutes later, no one had shown up, so an assistant manager came over. When the sporting goods knuckle-head finally arrived (he had gone on his break with the keys to the ammo case), the assistant manager told him to discount the price to $12.00/box; I wish they would have had more than 2 boxes.
It's labeled as .223, brass cased, boxer primed, 55 grain FMJ, and according to the box, manufactured in Italy. Even at $18.97, it's only $.38/round, which isn't bad for factory practice ammo.

I shot through a box of 50 today, and it was excellent. I wasn't shooting a Smith on this trip, just my 92fs. I cleaned her up after getting back home as well, and it didn't seem particularly dirty either. I will say it seemed a little on the warm side, but I kind of like that. Anyway, I will be buying more on future trips to Walmart.

Default Perfecta 40 s&w feed issues in M&P 40 VTAC

I bought 6 boxes of the Perfecta 40 to break in my M&P 40 VTAC today and I shot 2 boxes, 100 rounds with lots off failure to feed issues. I averaged 5 ftf's out of 10 rounds sometimes more and I couldn't hit the 30 yard steel plates consistenty at all. To see if it was an ammo or gun issue I bought some blazer steel cased ammo and the gun ran all 50 rounds flawlessly. Not only did it run flawless I was able to hit the metal plates very consistently. Almost on every shot I was able to connect with the Blazer 40. I also noticed that the Perfecta ammo was very underpowered as well. If anyone is interested I will sell my 4 boxes, 200 rounds for $65 shipped.

Default Perfecta doesnt shoot well in my M&P .40

I fell for the cheap price and bought 4 boxes of "perfecta" .40 and it feed well when shooting the .40 shield. i loaded up a few mags for my M&P full size and it had alot of fail to feeds, jams, failed to ejects, and was inaccurate. I found that to be odd so i loaded my XDM full size and it had the same problems. I was hoping my older sigma .40 would prove the other 2 pistols were just picky. The exact same problems with the 3rd .40! I usually dont shot off brand ammo and now i remember why i will probably measure OAL and get a grain count or weight when i have time. switched back to federal/winchester the same day and had none of these issues. The Shield still performed well with the perfecta .40 for some reason? just pay the extra money and stay away from cheap ammo!

OAL seems to be a problem. I was given a box of 9mm Fiocci with XTP hp's. The bullets were seated at many different depths and had problems chambering. On the upside it was full power. Joe

I ran the .40Cal Fiocci XTP and had a lot of miss feeds as well. Ran Federal, Win, Independant, & PMC and no failures. I believe the OAL seems to be the issue according to others as well.

When I had a look at the Perfecta .40 Cal, the OAL seemed a bit high, just like like the Fiocci. SO I think I'm staying away. Though I may give it a try one day....

I bought 2 50 round boxes of the Perfecta ammo in .380. In my little KelTec P3AT it would fail to extract. I've never had this problem before. After examining the ammo I found that the rim is not cut square, it has a chamfer or an angle on the outside. I could not run an entire magazine without a problem.
I switched to some Tula and it ran perfectly, like it always does. My buddy has one of the Colt Mustang XSP's. I'll give him the rest of the ammo and we'll see if it will run in the little Colt.

I bought four boxes of 9mm. They are super low powered. The shells barely make it out of my glock and sometimes don't on my SIG 226. In fact the slide won't lock back on the last round on the SIG. Happens everytime.

I've only had a couple more boxes since my first post on this thread and didn't have any problems with it through my 9mm Shield or Beretta 92. I do agree they are pretty weak loads, though. I haven't bought any more of it because it is cheaper to buy the 100 round packs of WWB.

I have a Steyr L9 and it is fussy.
I found TulAmmo 9mm BrassMaxx out of Wally World 50 round boxes that say made in Italy. I bought the last 5 in the case that day, haven't seen them again. What I do see is the 100 round cardboard "can" and I get those. They work fine, actually seem a little hot. The round BrassMaxx cans say made in Bosnia Herzegovina.

I suspect the Perfecta being put out by TulAmmo and made in Italy is the continuation of some Italian BrassMaxx deal. I saw somewhere it was felt Fiocchi was producing BrassMaxx for TulAmmo. Stands to reason perhaps TulAmmo wanted to preserve BrassMaxx for themselves and so now we have Perfecta made in Italy for TulAmmo.

Sadly Perfecta wasn't hot enough. Even more disappointing a blue box of Fiocchi was worse than the Perfecta.

Have also tried the ZQ 9mm "nato" branded as well.

All three brands and their respective partially full boxes are in the back corner of the ammo locker.

Got one box (50) of "Perfecta 9mm Luger 115 Grain FMJ Brass Case Non-Corrosive Boxer Primer" on my way to the range yesterday. I had never used it before. The bullets looked oddly shaped, longer than normal with a peculiar color cast to them.

My Glock G34 Gen 4 will run with anything, but this Perfecta ammo completely failed to chamber about ten or twelve times with the first three Glock 17rd magazines I loaded up with the stuff. Rounds got stuck as they started up the ramp, wouldn't even enter the chamber. Never had this happen with that pistol.

I had three other boxes of 115 Gr. FMJ ammo (not Perfecta) with me. I immediately loaded up the same three 17rd magazines and the gun ran perfectly, as did all the rest of the ammo I fired. I will not be buying any more Perfecta in the future.

bought a box of 50 at walmart. shot it in my 40 s&w, failed to cycle every time. this has got to be the worst ammo, i thought Tula was bad but this takes the cake.

I understand that the problem with Russian Ammo is the coating They use,After a while it gums up the Chamber causing loading problems.

Default Perfecta ammo

Per-junkta ammo should be its name. I shoot a Ruger SR40C and just took 100 rounds of this stuff to the range this morning. I read a little further down where someone had a ftf error and that's what I had. It actually fed through like it was a spent round and jammed in the slide. Didn't take long to clear it but it's the first ammo I have EVER had that gave me any failures at all. I will tell you that PMC 165 gr FMJ that I bought online from AmmoToGo was the best range ammo that I have used since I started shooting the SR. Well worth the wait to buy it online!

I have shot Perfecta in 9m and 380 with no problems at all. It seems to be a little dirty compared to some others but I clean my guns after each range trip anyway.

Default Perfecta .45 and 9mm from Walmart

Hi, new to the forum, great information. I have not had a single issue with Perfecta .45 in my Glock 21, HK USC or my Beretta CX4 Storm. I've had the same experience with Perfecta 9mm in my Glock 17 and 19, Beretta CX4 Storm (9mm version) plus my very picky Cobray. Occasionally the .45 load appears a little weak in the HK (very consistent feel, different ammo is noticeable). You can not beat the price and honestly I'm not sure why others are having problems but I've seen this with expensive ammo (even match stuff). Off topic, but if you get a chance, try a CX4 Storm, very cool rifle (compact) this is why I acquired 9mm and the .45 version. Thank you all for this great forum and member input (enjoy reading comments).

Walmart has a sale price Perfecta for $6.94 a box of 50 for all handgun calibers, all my local walmarts are completely sold out and I was bummed I missed the deal until I read all these negative comments about the brand. It seems they are under powered and have hard primers.

If I get any type of failure while running my handguns I then have to shoot at least 100 rounds without issue before carrying the gun. So for me shooting lower quality stuff can actually get more expensive in the end.

Usually American Eagle is only one or two more dollars per box than the lower quality stuff like WWB or Fed Champion and IMO when purchasing 2-5 boxes of American Eagle at one time it is not worth saving $2-$10 overall.

Default Perfecta

I just shot a box of the Perfecta through my Beretta 96 and didn't have a single problem. Seems like a score to me.

I haven't shot their ammo but I have loaded a lot of their brass in 9mm and 45acp. Good brass and no problems at all.

Local WM had sale, $8.94. I got 6 50rd boxes of 223 and 5 50rd boxes of 40. Will try at some point. But at this sale price it will be worth it. At this price, it is cheaper than 22LR lately!!!!!
