I remember when powder was plentiful and primers were dirt cheap. I dont know about u, but it aint the same anymore.

Let the nay sayers do what they want. As u said, they'll be the first to complain in the end. Those of us who prepare, are the ones they call Hoarders. I dont know about u but i'd much rather be the hoarder than be the needy. At least the hoarders have plenty of ammo to shoot and dont have to look for any or pay any high prices. We just get to sit back and laugh at these guys each and every time we make a range trip and squeeze off 500+ rounds a week and not feel a dent in our pocket book.

I don't think the risk of sanctions causing importation of ammo can be discounted.

The company I work at deals with companies in Russia, our legal department and engineering management are working contingencies plans in case sanctions go into affect. Also, people are getting their VISAs for travel filed now in case they need to travel later.

The risk of business disruption is VERY real.

Nobody was talking Sanctions then but they are today. Ignore the building tensions at your peril. A prudent person would add to their supplies if their was a chance that those supplies might not be available or available at greatly increased prices in the future.

Granted you can just ignore whats happening but if there are sanctions imposed and ammunition produced or sold by Russian companies are part of those sanctions what are you going to do then.

The Sec. of State is speaking now and it seems after 6 hours of negotiations to avoid this crises those negotiations have failed.

Worst case I'll do what I did in 2013....other stuff.

While I do have a nice stash It really doesn't really bother me if something particular is more or less available. When 22 became unavailable I just moved to something else. Besides in 15 years I have yet to shoot a brick of 22lr. So instead I shot more of other calibers. Same with this. If x39 is unavailable I'll shoot something else. I don't see the problem. (I get why it a problem, it's just not a problem or a concern to me).

I shoot 10mm
38
357
Which Russia doesn't import.

7.62x54
Which is imported by Bulgaria and PPU.

9/40/45 I have mostly brass with a little bit of Russian mixed in.

223 only shoot PMC for plinking with a few Russian mixed in.

My 2 main Russian rifles are AK47 and 74. Well 5.45 is also imported from Bulgaria, and I can live without steel case x39.

Except one is supposed to be caused by sanctions the other is pure panic cause by internet lore like the dhs bought all the ammo myths that still linger today. Has there been anything other than people freaking out as to why there is no powder, primers, 22lr, ect? Nope, just panic and do we really need to start another?

If sanctions are imposed that include bans on Russian companies that produce ammunition then you can expect to see shortages to develop in such calibers as 9mm and .223 as a result of the loss of Russian supplies to the American Ammunition Market. I really hope this does not occur.

We do have a positive on our side that may be key to preventing such sanctions that would impact ammo supplies. That "key" is the upcoming Congressional elections in November. I really doubt the Democrats would want to cross that bridge as they know it will be portrayed as their fault that there is no ammo available.

Still one needs to prepare oneself for the possibility that if sanctions are imposed and those sanctions impact US ammo supplies out of Russia that individuals will have what they consider to be an acceptable supply of ammunition. To that end I ordered 2 more spam cans of 7.62x54R giving me a total of 1,760 rounds which will last an easy 5 years at my level of shooting 7.62x54R.

In these TROUBLED TIMES, I would certainly want to have plenty of ammo for every gun I own. If SHTF you can use your AK's as clubs.

Granted, most of the shortages we are experiencing are self induced. Still a shortage. Still means no ammo. Doesn't matter what the cause.

Most likely another Democratic President on the horizon. (you know who). Who knows what will happen then. I want to be holding heavy. Period.

I stocked up years ago. I accounted for some of the primer shortage in the recent past as I bought a bunch of federal pistol primers. lack of ammo doesn't bother me either. load all my own and as stated have a lifetime supply. haven't bought any 22lr since all this started, have plenty so left my share for someone else who may not have any. good luck to all. we may need before long.
