Default Speer SB or BB LSWCHP in 629?

OK, I gave this several hours. I'd chalk it up to stupid or unnecessary question, but it's no dumber than "New To Me 19-4!" and those will generate pages.

Wrong place to ask an ammo question... wrong caliber... wrong member. Something. Cool.

Just logged in and its not a dumb question at all. Not to sound trite but only your 629 can tell for sure! If you can get em in smaller amounts, say a hundred bullet box, give both of them a try and see what it likes best. You will get some who prefer a flat base bullet and some who like an bevel base and some who just don't care. Much the same for Hp's Vs. solids. If these are the Speer swaged bullets keep your velocity's below 1000 fps as these really lead up most bores at faster speeds. I assume you are talking about just the bullets and not loaded ammo.

Your question is ill-phrased. In Speer ammo, "SB" means Short Barrel and refers to a load with 135 grain JHP bullet in 38 Special and .357 Magnum ammo. It is intended to give good expansion at relatively low velocities in snub barrels.

You obviously mean something else, maybe component bullets in .429" size?

I haven't owned a .44 in years and may just be missing some new product? I guess BB is Bevel Base?

If they're now making SWC-HP ammo in .44 Magnum and .44 Special, that's important news... to me. I know they've made solid bullets like that for decades, but HP's? That'd be terrific, if they expand well. Who knows something about this?
