Default CCI Standard Velocity .22LR????

I've heard that CCI Standard Velocity .22LR ammo will jam in many semi-auto .22LR rifles. Any truth to this? I find it for sale occasionally and wondered if it was worth buying. It goes for about five bucks a box of 50.

CCI seems to be the standard for quality ammo.I'm betting that anyone that has problems with it they're not seating the ammo in the mags properly....Especially if they are doublestack mags.

I would be hesitant to buy anything else in quantity without sampling it first.I have a PMR-30 .22 MAG that I shoot CCI in and it's flawless but due to the scarcity of the ammo I'm only shooting my lever action and revolvers.Wont ever get a FTF or FTE with them.

If you can find CCI then buy what ever you're allowed. It doesn't sit on the shelves for long.

I have chronographed std. velocity 22 LRs numerous times and CCI is
slower than Remington or Winchester. I like the CCIs though because
they usually are more accurate than Rem or Win but not always.
Federal std. velocity is also slower than Rem or Win and usually more
accurate. Some semi autos, rifles or handguns will not cycle with the
lower powered ammo. You just have to try it and see. Rem or Win will
usually function in most semi autos so it pays to have a variety of
ammo on hand if possible, hard to do these days.

I have shot a lot of CCI Standard Velocity 22LR ammo in a Ruger 10/22 and Marlin Model 60 and never had a problem... Are you sure you're not thinking of their CB ammo or newer Quiet-22 ammo? That won't cycle the action on a semi-auto but standard velocity ammo is not low velocity and generates plenty of pressure.

CCI Standard Velocity ammo - 1070 fps
CCI Pistol Match ammo - 1070 fps
CCI Green Tag ammo - 1070 fps
CCI Subsonic HP ammo - 1050 fps
CCI Select ammo - 1200 fps
CCI Mini-Mag HV - 1235 fps

CCI Quiet-22 ammo - 710 fps
CCI CB Long ammo - 710 fps

Back when I was a kid there was very little high velocity 22LR ammo brands and the stuff that was available I wouldn't spend the extra money on. 22LR ammo was the cure for lower velocity 22 Long ammo and standard velocity ammo from all the companies cycled semi-autos just fine.

Granted, there are some semi-auto rifles that came out in the past few years that either recommend or require high velocity ammo to insure reliability but that is just the design of the rifle. If the manufacturer doesn't recommend or require HV ammo for your rifle you are good-to-go. Of course the only way to know for sure is to buying a box of 50 if you can find them and give it a try with your rifle. (you didn't tell us semi-auto which rifle)

Are they really @ $5/box these days? wow!

I've used it in my Ruger 10/22, my Colt 1911-22, and my Henry Arms AR-7 (that little take down survival rifle), with no problems.

I've also used it in former .22 guns with no problems such as, Pheonix Arms and S&W 22A.

The only things I've ever had issues with cycling in a semi-auto are, some (don't remember which brands at the moment) sub sonic ammo and the CCI shot shells.

I've been buying .22LR whenever I can find it. I've bought some of the CCI in question, just to have. My main use would be .22 revolver, which of course it works fine in. I bought three boxes on Thursday, which is the store limit, per customer, per day. I went back to the same store, but a different location Friday. I happened to be in the area....stopped in just to see if maybe they had any. They did. I could have bought three more boxes, but the sales guy started yapping about how it was jam-o-matic in most semi-autos. I decided not to buy any more, as I still have a pretty good variety of .22LR ammo....more than I'll probably use for a while. After reading all your posts here....I should have bought it....availability has been hit or miss....like everywhere else, I'm sure.

CCI SV works well in my M&P 1522 and Sig522 rifles, as well as both Ruger MarkII and MarkIII 22/45s, MarkIII, and SW 22S pistols.

I use CCI SV almost exclusively for suppressed shooting. It's been difficult to find under $50/brick so I have been looking for alternatives.

No issues with it in my 10/22, MKII or old JC Higgins model 30.

Just put a box of 50 CCI SV through my 10/22 Thursday. No issues at all. It cost more on the lines of $3 / box of 50 a couple of months ago at Wally World.

It will not cycle my Sig 1911-22 reliably, so is "rifle only" ammo for me until I get a proper .22 revolver. That said, I buy it when I see it.

I like the CCI SV ammo because I find it to be extremely accurate. I usually shoot that ammo in my Savage bolt action rifle when competing in informal 50 yard matches with my buddies. That and Federal Champion Match ammo (#714) seem to be extremely accurate in most of my 22 rifles and handguns.

Very accurate in my rifles including a 10/22. At 5.00 per 50 it is a bargain by today's standards. After lapua, Wolf, and Eley the CCI SV is a good buy for a lower cost target ammo.
