What's the bullet type and weight, plus length of test barrel, if you know?

158gr SJHP

Barrel test length is 254mm which converts to 10 inches

My 686 is a 6"

Here is directly off PPUs site. I converted m/s and J to ft/s and ft/lbs and the numbers match what I posted earlier

0 10 20 30 40 50
Velocity [m/s] 490 477 464 451 439 427
Energy [J] 1129 1164 1101 1042 987 935
Trajectory [cm] -1 -0.3 0.0 -0.1 -0.8 -1.9

So if my research is correct, a 10" barrel would have approximately 200-300 more fps than a 6" barrel?

Default Just going by memory...

A 158 grain bullet going at 1600 fps is a VERY hot load in a 6" barrel. The 10" barrel would make it possible. I don't think everybody has a Thompson Center Contender, though.

Yeah, not going to get 1600 fps out of your 686 with 158s, but they are going to be "stout." Use a two-hand grip
BTW, the increase in velocity with barrel length is not going to be exactly linear, but guessing that 1300 fps is in the ballpark.

Prvi Partizan Ammo is made using European CPI standards, not SAAMI standards and us usually a little hotter than the American factory ammo. Their ammo is what ours used to be. I use Fiocchi .32 Auto ammo because it's quite a bit hotter than anything I can buy from an American company. I have no doubt the numbers on their site are accurate.

Those numbers might be accurate if a solid test barrel was used. But a realy gun, with taking into account the barrel/cylinder gap, 1350 sounds closer to the truth.
