I find the 200 FTX unsatisfactory to use even at revolver velocity due to it's fragmentation (on game animals) let alone the higher velocity of a longer rifle barrel.
CHOICES
My Ruger #1 spits the 200 FTX out at over 2900 fps.
I use the Barnes copper bullets as they don't fragment on impact, but I will say the 225 and 250 XPB still open to fast (they were designed for the Colt and Casull). The 200 and 275 work as advertised. I would think the Barnes 325 grain Buster would also work as intended out of the rifle, I have not taken any game with it out of a rifle to date, but did take a bison with them out of 6.5" revolver.
The Cutting Edge bullet opens to fast for use in a rifle.
My report on bear can be found here.
460 S&W, results (warnin graphic content)
Cutting Edge also produces a solid which should not be an issue out of a rifle.
While I have shoot Speer, Hornady, and Swift 300 grain jacketed bullets out of the rifle the velocity exceeds the design parameters of their respective manufactures. I would suspect the terminal performance on game to be fatal but the bullets will most likely fragment. If I were going to test this I would select the 325 grain Swift A frame as I believe it's construction to be the best of the three manufactures for this application.
Any lead round should be hard cast and gas checked or leading occurs.
RECOMMENDATION
Use the 275 grain Barnes - should still shoot pretty flat out of your rifle.
I would not hesitate to use it out of my rifle.
The 355 grain HC FN GC should also fill the bill.
ASIDE
For those wonder what other rifles are available in 460 S&W
besides the TC and Ruger #1, Big Horn Armory has a levergun
they are now taking orders on.
I am chomping at the bit to get mine, it quite the wait but if it like the 500 S&W they make it, will be worth it.
Good luck and be safe
