Relax, Lee. This isn't what you think.
I've always been a strong advocate for Remington's version of the FBI load. I still am, despite my reservations about their new HTP line and anecdotal reports that the alloy they now use is harder. Truth is, though, I'm getting lazy and don't feel like shooting lead bullets any more.
Plus I've only got a very, very small amount of the older "Express" version left (approx. less than 200 rounds, I didn't count), and once they're gone, they're gone.
I've learned that I can actually get the kind of POA/POI relationship I want with 130-135 gr. ammo by "looking over" my sights and placing the front blade directly below where I want the bullet to strike. It's actually aiming "high" if you look through the sights, but since the lighter weight hits an inch or two low, it works out perfectly.
That being said, I've managed to aquire some 50 ct. boxes of the Speer GDSB load. I'd like to buy more, but by the time I'm able to afford it it'll be sold out on SGAmmo as usual.
But that's neither here nor there... My point is it's what I'm carrying now because it's 1) jacketed, 2) another proven round that "works" in snubs, and 3) still fairly common despite everyone and their dog wanting it. I can practice with 130 gr. FMJ to my heart's content (no more scrubbing lead out of my bore, just an occasional swabbing with Hoppes for the copper fouling) and not have to worry about the Speer load shooting differently (if there's any difference in the POA/POI relationship between the two, I can't see it).
So yes, there you have it. I guess I'm guilty of apostasy.
