He did not shoot 44mag. Check out the price on the box, I'm guessing from the 60s. I have stuff I bought in the 80s when things were modern. I got my first 44 Mag in 1980.

I still have a box. Those are the hottest rounds I can remember shooting. That is why I still have them. I'm afraid to shoot them

I am sure Woolco and Sears and Roebuck were cheaper. Does anyone know what happen to Roebuck?

I used to carry 180 grain SuperVels in my 29 for self defense. I think I still may have half a dozen or so around somewheres.

Still have 5 boxes of these 44 rounds. Purchase them at the military exchange in Hawaii, in the early '70's. It was the only 44 ammo they had for sale.

I would check the outside diameter before shooting in hand gun, as these I believe are intended for rifle and maybe have a slightly larger O.D.

As for performance, yes they are one hottest rounds available at that time.

Fire a few of them if you want to feel what real .44 Magnum ammo is like.

Wink

I'm guessing from the 60s.

It is from the 60's

That's when the change occurred and children could no longer be trusted.

but that's all I need is to start collecting old ammo/boxes
Now you tell me........does make for decent photo props though

I've fired this load safely in a 29, but the idea was they were designed for carbine use. Given the shape of the bullet, probably the early Ruger semi auto .44 carbine.

I think I will pop a couple in my Redhawk, the 629 can watch from a distance.
