Default Ammo for a 1959 model-27 .357 mag

Should I stick with the standard lead rounds or are the newer loads, such as Hornady, safe to shoot through this piece as well? Thanks

Any 357, 38, or 38+P will work fine.

+1. If it'll fit in the chamber, you can shoot it.

Thanks, just making sure, new to the old guns and thought I remember hearing something about old handguns won't hold up to the new loads.

That's funny!!

Most think that modern ammunition is significantly milder than early .357 Magnum. BTW, neither is true.

And besides that, a 1959 built gun IS NOT OLD! It may be older than you however. When people refer to "old" S&Ws they mean before heat-treating of cylinders was begun in ca. 1920.
