What's the difference between FMJ &FMC
I have searched the forum for answer and found nothing. I am sure this has been discussed many times over but I have not found it! Rather than start a new thread, could someone provide a link?
Thank You, mb

FMC stands for Full metal case, basically its a bullet that is fully incased in a thin sheet of copper or some other alloy. The full advatange of a FMC bullet is safety, such as a indoor range and the RO is sweeping up casings & lead from a days shoot and is exposed to lead. Same thing applies to shooters as well. There are some indoor ranges that only allow FMC bullets and others that dont...
Its a very common bullet intended for target & training...

The link is a good explanation. You'll see FMJ, FMC, MC, and TMJ as you look around the ammo shelf. All are effectively the same.

Thanks Capt.Ron
I was always under the impression The FMC & FMJ were the same. The last sentence in the article confirms it! "FMC and FMJ is almost always the same bullet unless it denotes something special clearly on the website or box of ammo itself"

I always thought that Full Metal Case was the old-fashioned term and Full Metal Jacket was the modern term.

Don't forget the military term "ball".
I hear Full Metal Jacket and I start looking for R. Lee Ermey.

MC, FMC and FMJ are the same. One company may use "FMJ" and another company may use "FMC" or "MC". All three abbreviations are used to generally describe a bullet that consists of a solid lead core with a gilding metal outer jacket which may or may not fully enclose the lead core at the base of the bullet.

FMJ often has an exposed lead base. MC, TMJ, FMC all imply a completely encased bullet to me.
