Default Ammo Storage

In a dry, cool, secured area, I have my magazine/ammo depot in regular plastic storage containers. As these are now overflowing in some cases (12 gage and 9mm containers) I am looking to rethink my ammo storage. I also have numerous military metal containers that have always been full. What containers do you use to store your ammo? Thank you, Rick

I keep mine in ammo cans or the original case lots on a shelf. I doubt it makes any difference as long as it is kept reasonably cool and dry. It will still go bang long after I'm gone.

I have a work room in our finished basement in which there is one of those tall, metal office storage cabinets. I keep my ammo, cleaning and range stuff in there.

Spare bedroom closet works for me. If it came in a can I leave it. The others are stored in original boxes. Heat and air will keep them for a long time.

mine have been kept in metal (or plastic) cans in a closet, mostly for ease of storage or hauling around. Got in the habit while living in SC (where cool and dry can be a little difficult to maintain lol) of hanging one of those rechargeable dehumidifiers in the closet which seemed to help a little.

As i plan on purchasing some form of a safe for my handguns, was thinking about keeping the ammo in there as well. I was initially under the impression that could be a good thing, for fire/water damage, etc but seems people are split on it helping in a fire so not so sure on that part. Maybe the closet is fine after all.
