walmart winchester ammo . Is it good stuff?
I got some ammo at walmart today. Winchester PDX1 defender bonded hollowpoints. I figure this is the best stuff Winchester makes?
The 9mm +p has velocity of 1200fps. 40S&W 1,180fps, and the 223 at 2,780fps.

Walmart has nothing to do with anything. It's the same ammo regardless of where sold

I agree, Walmart doesn't sell different ammo than other stores. The PDX1 ammo is Winchester's to pf the line ammo.

Arik basically said it, but I will reiterate: There is no such thing as Wal-Mart ammunition, Winchester, Remington, Federal, etc! It is exactly the same ammunition as the same brands sold by any other retailer!

It pains me to say this, because I used to LOVE the Winchester brand...but now I avoid their components. I've had far too many Winchester primers fail to fire, and the flash holes in their brass look like they were punched out with a crooked roofing nail. The nail in the coffin was when I purchased (3) 50 count bags of brass and only ended up with roughly 20 pieces of usable brass per bag. I wont hunt, or carry ammo that's been loaded with Winchester primers...I just can't trust them. There's much better ammo to be had (my opinion only based on the experiences listed above). For handgun carry ammo I really like Speer's stuff with their excellent Gold Dot bullets. Nosler has been pushing their new HP line of ammo..the prices are almost too good to be true, and in the end you get premium brass for reloading. I ran three boxes of their 230 grain .45 ACP HPs through my 1911 and it all fed and fired beautifully. The primers seemed dirty but other than that I was pleased. I still have to see some tests on what their HP bullet is about...it's not really clear if it's a match bullet or designed for SD purposes. I only bought it for the brass it was so cheap!

I have not noticed winchester or remington, but I wonder why the red box federal has a part number that starts with "WM" and I've never seen it anywhere other than walmart, and the tables of the ammo flippers at the gun shows.
My guess is federal got a large contract with walmart and made that ammo just for them.

So? They'd do the same for you, if you were ordering a couple of railcar-loads of the stuff. But they'd load it to the same standards as everything else they load.

Well, you'd hope so.
How ever they do it, it works.....in my guns at least.
I hope federal can make some profit on it. I remember the stories 10-15 years ago about how walmart would bully it's suppliers, I suspect that that is still the case, in some cases
