Default 9mm, What do I have

I bought this over the internet a few years back. They said it was a overrun of submachine gun ammo for the British SAS. Priced right, I bought a bunch of it.

Federal white box. 50 rds per box on a sticker on the end flap: 9mm LUGER 95 GRAIN JSP XM9R01. on the back 01N01 22720 ( although the second 2 may be a ?. it is smuged).

The ammo is brass case, headstamp RG 09 9X19. I assume RG is Radway Green and the 09 a manufacture date. Could be wrong, it has happened before. It is a soft point.

There is nothing like this on Federals website, not that I could find anyway.

The box has a manufacture date of 2006, Anoka MN. It says "Made in the USA".

Does anyone now if Federal made ammo for RG ? Did Federal buy surplus ammo from RG and sell it it its own packages ? Was this made in the UK or the USA ? Was this ment for submachine guns ?

I do not have access to a bullet speed o meter so I don't know how fast these are going. In a Blackhawk convertable it feels more 357mag'ish than 38 Special. They run fine in the semiautos.

It is as accurate as I am and its terminal performance on the wild pigs we have around here could only be described as amazing.

Any Ideas ?

Thanks

Designed with urban combat in mind to limit penetration. UK abandoned it when their requirements for tumbling was not met.

Velocity is around 1300 - 1500 depending on firearm

Yes, Federal did make this ammo for the UK and the surplus was sold on the retail market.
