Default low recoil ammo for shield 9mm

I am looking for some help on ammo for our Shield 9mm. This will for my wife and she is a novice shooter,as am I. The gun is strictly for home and self defense, and plinking at the range. We had some 115 gr. Blazer Brass when we bought the gun, which she liked. Then I bought some 124 gr., which was a hotter round, and she doesnt like the extra kick. So anyone have suggestions for a low recoil, newbie friendly HP round similar to the Blaser round?

I own and shoot often a Shield 9mm.

I have been buying Remington UMC 115g JHP 100 round boxes. At WalMart the price is just a bit over Winchester White Box. It is a bit above the recoil of 115g, less than 124. I'm suspecting that it is just short of a +P load. It resolves the conflict of what I keep in my extra mags.

The Shield is loaded with Federal HST 124g JHP when in the bedside safe. It is much more accurate with 124 in general in my experience.

The Perfecta 115g is hotter than th Blazer Brass 115g as I see it (no technical specs, just shooting).

Federal 115g FMJ in the 100 round box is about the same as Blazer Brass, but a bit dirtier in the after range clean-up.

ZQI 9mm NATO is FMJ, 123g. Real snappy.

Default This is reloading, but.....

i was looking for a light round for my wife as she was basically afraid of the semi though she loved the revolver as I made light rounds for her to shoot.

Someone suggested that I try a 147 gr bullet with a light charge Alliant #7, a powder that's a little tougher than a medium burning powder. I put together a load and tested it and WOW, was I impressed. The recoid was more of a 'push' than a 'snap'. I doubt that you will find such a combo in bought ammo, but a target round with a 147 grain bullet would probably be close.

PS I see Winchester makes such an animal.

Some of the remanufactured ammo is low in cost, since it is also low in fps, which can be a good thing, for some shooters.

However by reloading I can get a 115gr down to 984 fps or a 124gr down to 945 fps that is very low in recoil.
A large 147gr can be down loaded to just 807 fps to match the 124gr in power factor.
No factory loads this low..................
generally a 115 is around 1090 for the low pressure loads but
it is a nice practice load, if you can find them.

Being a self-proclaimed novice, I doubt that the OP reloads so with that being said, one of the "softest" shooting factory JHP loads is the Barnes TAC-XPD 115gr +P.
Although rated as +P, it's softer with less muzzle flip than any other load I've shot.

Thanks for the input, I am curious if anyone has used the Winchester Train and Defend ammo. They advertise it as a low recoil 147gr. load, but I told the boss the only way I know is to buy a box and shoot it. Not sure if she would like the 147 gr. though. I will be getting a FS M&P 40 in the next month or two, so that is whythe Shield is getting set up more for her.

I have not used the Winchester T&D boxes, although they are on closeout at my Academy. Didn't sell very well at all.

Someone on a forum I look at was not complimentary of them. In my scheme, they are too expensive.

Since the OP mentioned defensive use also, the answer is std vel 115 JHP.

IF I were going full boogie hypothetical , I would discuss 9BP vs 115 Silvertip vs Gold Dot. In our current times of inconsistant availability, frankly most std vel 115 JHP are fairly close in performance ( for two legged threats , disregarding barrier penetration ) . So feel free to select on basis of local availability, and price. For those times I am inclined for std vel, I've been known to use WWB and UMC , and haven't felt unarmed.
