Default Shotshells

Maybe a dumb question-

Does anyone here carry a shotshell (or shells) in a speedstrip in your pocket? Is there any chance I'll end up with a pocket full of pellets?

You shouldn't on a factory round. I have had it happen with reloads.

Most pumps or auto's will carry five (5) shells in them.
If you need more there is always the LE shotguns that you can try.

A ammo pouch would be the best way to carry extra ammo, if you really had to. Plus you could check it out if needed.

If you need more than five shots, you are in deep do-do!!

Good luck.

Pete: In the summer during snake season, I switch from a 1911 to any one of a number of revolvers w/one snake shot cartridge in a chamber and 2-4 more in my pocket. Never felt a need to put them in a speed strip. I home brew 38 spl, 357, 41 mag, & 44 spl w/#12 shot. Tested all of them on potatoes at probable encounter distance.

I often take walks in the woods accompanied by a J frame loaded with 2 shot shells and 3 +P Hollow points. I have pocket carried a few extra shot shells to repel pine cone attacks when they are thick and threatening but not often. Even then, I believe those were home spun shot shells in 357 cases (which are sealed with wax and cardboard). In any case , I have not had any ammo failures that would make me change my ways.

I'm glad you cleared that up. The first post had me thinking you were a mall ninja trying to ratchet it up several notches. Larry

I have carried the .38 shot shells in a HKS Speedloader for quite a few years during hunting season with no issues at all.

They are reasonably durable and as long as you don't bang them around they should not leak shot. I do have a bunch of them but have only carried them in belt loops on a limited basis - no problems.

I guess if you ran into a tree really hard, you could bust one in your pocket open. At that point you'll be unconscious and won't really care.
