I have some 22 Hornet, 308 Win, and 38 Colt ammo with nothing to shoot it in. I also have a set of 22-250 dies, and have never owned a rifle chambered for that.

In the past, I've sold guns and gotten rid of the ammo and/or dies, brass, etc. for that gun, only to buy another gun chambered for the same thing later. I'll just keep these in case another gun chambered for them follows me home.

Anyone can send long guns through the Post Office. If your PO will not ship, I would talk to the Postmaster directly.

(B8) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U. S. Postal Service?
A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own state or to a licensee in any state. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. A nonlicensee may not transfer any firearm to a nonlicensed resident of another state. The Postal Service recommends that longguns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms.

Your post reminds me that I never want to live in NJ.

Really? You don't have a 22?

On the USPS thing...yes, quite legal for an individual to ship a long gun via US Mail. Also OK by their policy. But I have NEVER had a PO accept a gun from me. They ALWAYS insist it's illegal to send a gun through the Mail. I gave up after being refused at 20 *** in 4 states.
