The beauty of that little piece is that you have multiple options for each category. It's a do-it-all revolver in a comfortable package.

Me personally:

Plinking- 158 gr LRN .38s
Home defense- 158 gr .38 +p lswchp
CCW- 145 gr .357 Silvertips
Out in nature- 1 or 2 rds of snakeshot/ the rest 158 gr .357 JSP

Enjoy that thing!

Plinking = 3.2 grains Titegroup under a 158 grain RNL bullet

Serious Target Shooting = 148 grain Wad cutters

SD: .38 Special Buffalo Bore HEAVY 158 grain LSWCHP-GC +P OR Speer 38 Special Short Barrel 135 grain JHP +P.

Woods: (but NOT from a J Frame) Buffalo Bore .357 Magnum 180 grain Hard Cast LSWC.

I'm the guy who has trouble cleaning .357 chambers after firing. 38s in them, so I don't. I absolutely love the CCI Blazer .357 Mag 158gr JHP load. Use it for practice and it doesn't disturb me if I have to carry it; it is lighter than the full charge 158gr Mags, yet nothing to stand in front of. I can shoot it accurately.

I like the W-W 110gr JHP Mag load for my Model 60 Ladysmith and my other J-frame Mags.

Groo here
Got one, the 3in helps the 357mag greatly.
I put on pachmayr grips on.[al my S&W guns have them]
and have shot 130 gr 38 spec to 180gr [ Groo Monster Maulers]
The gun will take it, you must have grips that fit, but
it is hard to find a lighter ,small,trail/hiking gun with the punch.

Since the M60 is not a light alloy revolver for carry I would use any name brand 158gr .357 Magnum round that is accurate in your gun. I like the 158gr Speer Gold Dot ammo and the 145gr Winchester Silvertip ammo best. My M640 is scary accurate with the Winchester ammo.

My 3" SP-101 is similar in size (a bit larger) and strength to your 60-15 (I had a 60-15 once - very much liked it but traded it off after the lock engaged when it shouldn't have).

For plinking, whatever . . . I tend not to load much below the .38+P level because I like my practice with my non-target guns to be more geared toward how I'd realistically use them. I shoot a lot of handloads that duplicate (or slightly surpass) the old FBI Load: 158-grain LSWC hardcasts at about 950 fps from the 3". (I use Tennessee Valley Bullets hardcasts and find they give me a slight increase in velocity as compared to others - I'm told it's the lube.)

For trail use, I either carry THE LOAD (a +P+ 158-gr hardcast beginning load from the old Speer #8 Manual using SR 4756) which does about 1200 fps from the 3" tube (accurate, too!) or else the max Blue Dot load for 180-grain hardcasts (which gives me a bit more than 1200 fps) from the gun.

For personal defense use, I have .357-minus-P loads using the 135-gr Speer Short Barrel Gold Dot bullet: I have them set up to deliver an accurate and easy 1100 fps from the gun. However, I've been impressed with Federal's 130-grain .357 Hydra-Shoks which do in the mid-1400 fps (minimal spreads and quite accurate) from this gun.
