Default little help please

It may have been covered before but, has anyone had any issues (problems) or successes with using 147gr personal defense ammo in a S&W M&P shield 9mm . That would be feeding or ejection issues. Thanks.

No problems here. I've shot a few different loads through my Glock 19. It eats everything.

I bought a box of Speer 147gr TMC and ran them through my C9 to see how they did at target and full loads before buying the high priced SD ammo.

I did get a hold of two boxes of Federal HST 147gr and they did cycle in my pistol and was close to POA for my chrony work but that only took 10 rounds.
I will put the other 40 through to make sure the last box might be problem free for SD work.

Good luck.

I also have a Shield 9mm. I like to fire at least 100 trouble-free rounds of SD ammo before I consider it reliable enough to carry. The only 147g SD ammo I've tried so far is Remington Golden Saber. I had one FTE early in my testing, but since then, I've fired 140 continuous rounds of the GS 147s without a problem. I'll probably shoot another 50 rounds just to be sure.

Right now I'm carrying Hornady Critical Duty 135g +P. I haven't had a single problem in 100 rounds with the Hornadys, but they are not as accurate as the Remingtons. I'll likely switch if the Remingtons continue to shoot well. I also just got a some Federal HST 147s, which I have never shot before. I'm going to try them out in a few days, and I'll post my results here. Stay tuned!

I ran a 50 round box of Federal 147gr HST (P9HST2) through my Shield, using both my magazines. Shoots great, right at POA.

I use that same round in my Sig, Walther, and CZ, and its the most accurate round any of those pistols has ever fired.

I put at least 150 rounds of standard pressure 147gr HST through my Shield without issue.

Update on the HSTs:
I just got back from the range, where I got to try out the Federal HST 147g ammo in my Shield. I guess it's just me, because contrary to the glowing reports posted above, I couldn't shoot them worth a darn at my usual 15-yard target distance. Although I brought 100 rounds to the range, I stopped after 50, because it was obvious that it would take a lot more rounds than that before I could get as good as I currently am with the Golden Sabers or the Hornadys. The good news is that all 50 HSTs fed, fired, and ejected with no problems. I'll save the remaining HSTs for my SIG P320.

I fired the HSTs back-to-back with some Golden Sabers, and the HSTs had more recoil. That may have contributed to my lower accuracy. However, according to the luckygunner.com tests, the Golden Sabers actually have slightly greater muzzle velocity. I will likely switch to the Golden Sabers as my Shield SD ammo, as I have now fired 168 continuous trouble-free rounds, and have shot them more accurately than any other SD round I've tried.

The bottom line is that you can't select an SD round based only on others' experiences. You have to test them yourself and discover what works best for you.
