Default Question about .22 ammo

I have a couple of early 22/32 revolvers that I would like to shoot. I understand that I should not use high velocity rounds in it.
If a box of ammo does not say "High Velocity" , can I safely assume that it is standard velocity and safe to fire ? Most of what I have on hand is about 1280fps. Would that be safe for me to use ?
Thanks,
Bruce

"Target" rounds are loaded to a lower velocity and are by nature more consistent. Of course they cost more as well.

Bulk ammo is all high velocity if that's what you're wondering.Quality ammo will have target in the name or say standard velocity usually.

CCI Standard Velocity, some others, run 1040-1070fps.

I use only standard velocity in all my 22's.

I've never found the high velocity stuff to offer any benefit over standard velocity ammo. That's true for target shooting as well as shooting critters.

Lots of ammo manufacturers make standard velocity 22 ammo. You may have to hunt for it a bit, but it's readily available.

Look for ammo that says standard velocity on the box. Standard velocity is usually under 1100 fps. Ammo marked high velocity will be around 1235 to 1250 fps. Hyper velocity starts around 1300 fps.
