Prvi Partizan PPU .38spl 158grn LRN
I bought some of this ammo for target use in my Model 28's and Taurus .357. Any opinions on this stuff? Thanks in advance.

I've seen complaints about it on the Net. Let us know how it works.
But their .303 ammo is supposedly better than S&B. Odd that Czech ammo would be worse than something from Serbia, but I believe it, in this case. The complaints came from reloaders. I think S&B is okay for one firing.
I think, not sure, that I saw a complaint about the Serbian .38 stuff on Gunboards, within the last week or two, but don't recall the forum there. It was definitely about that .38 RNL stuff.
I won't buy it. And I'm suspicious about most things from Eastern Europe. Zastava does seem to make good, if slightly rough, guns.

I've had only good luck with it. So far I've used their .38 spl and .30 carbine, just ordered some of their 8mm Mauser.

They only supply the US with 556 (along with Israel) but yea most of the ammo is rigged to fail and make American consumer spend money.
BTW Czechs are no less Eastern Europen

Bought about 1500 rds. a few years ago at a decent price. I shot great for me through several 38's and 357's. Brass loads great also. I would buy more if available and funds permitted.

I've shot plenty of that ammo as well as their 380 and 5.56 and never had a problem plus the brass is good for reloading.

With all the different brands of imported ammunition at prices somewhat less than the American originals, I think it wise to buy a small amount at first to try out. That way, you can reach your own conclusions before you commit to buying in bulk.
From reading on this Forum, there seem to be "generations" of ammo. One shooter reported one brand of ammo (ctg/bullet wgt) to be smoky while I had a different result. Individual testing is the way to go, IMO.

I started using Privi in .303, added .30-06 Garand, .38 S&W, and .38 Spl.
Went through hundreds without issue. I reload the brass, also no issue.

The Serbs are pretty well Balkan Slavic, whilst the Czech's are very heavily Germanized culturally. Some of the old German and Austrian iron working tradition has influenced good ol Bohemia throughout the centuries, so all in all, I consider the Czech's to be as western European as any Slavic group, especially in gunsmithing.

I don't believe that I've ever used any of their pistol ammunition, but back in the '90s, their rifle ammunition was first rate, reliable and accurate.

The only issue I ever had with Prvi Partizan/Hanson rifle ammunition was that you were GUARANTEED to have to trim the cases after the first use. The "plan" apparently called for the cases to be of x maximum length, and they pretty much all were. Not exactly a ringing indictment of their quality.
You can do MUCH worse for factory ammunition.

I just shot a box of 50 through a Colt vest pocket .25 and they seemed to run pretty clean with no duds or anything. Just got to shoot what you can find for a .25
Peace
