I got 350 rounds of the stuff because 9mm is notoriously difficult to find in stock in LA County (a big reason why I started with .40cal), and all Turner had for range ammo was Blazer Brass.

Tried it out today at the range and this stuff is ghastly. Big black smokey blasts with plenty of muzzle flash. Falling sparks. It was like I was shooting a firecracker. Not at all like the Federal or Winchester stuff I usually shoot, where my biggest issue is the recoil and muzzle flip. By the time I got my SD9VE home, I could already tell is was a mess. Soot around the ejection port and all over the muzzle. By the time I field stripped it, it was caked with black soot on all metal parts. It took forever to clean the inside of the slide.

Mind you, this was a gun that was cleaned once after being brought home brand new from the gun store, having only been fired once before by the QC tech at Smith & Wesson.

I told a range officer about this today and he said "oh yeah, I don't mess with any of that ammo. The better stuff costs more, but it's not garbage either."

What do you all think? Did I just get a nasty batch or is that just how their ammo is? I am switching back to Winchester ASAP if so.

I bought and shot a 350 round can of 9mm Blazer brass last year. It all went bang and I had zero malfunctions with it. I don't remember it being any dirtier or smokier than say, Remington UMC. I ran 200 rounds through my Shield and 100 rounds through my 39-2 and gave 50 rounds to my SIL.

Even tho it ran fine, I will probably not buy it again. It just seemed a bit under powered.....kinda like Freedom Munitions. I guess I'm too used to the Fiocchi 9mm.

I I can't say anything about Blazer Brass specifically, but I've never shot any ammo that didn't get my gun dirty. I also load most of my own with lead bullets, so I'm used to cleaning them after I shoot them. If it's an issue you can solve with different ammo, stick to he other brands.

I've tried 9, 40 and 45 in blazer brass. Like Bozz10mm just said, for me it went bang every time and nothing unusual like you reported. Also no more or less dirtier than the better ammo like remington or lawman ammo.

I just finished a 1000 round case of Blazer Brass 9mm 124gr.
Zero malfunctions and it was more consistent and cleaner than WWB.

NEVER had a problem with Blazer Brass. People have complained about how dirty Russian made Tula ammo is (in all calibers), I shot 1K of the old lacquered 9mm without cleaning my Glock and didn't find it dirty at all. I don't understand why people complain about "dirty" ammo...

I've shot thousands of rounds of Blazer Brass in both 9mm and 40S&W with no issues ever and I find it to be as clean or cleaner than anything else I've shot. Definitely not as stout as some brands but not powder puff either. I buy it by the case and currently sitting on over 6k rounds of the stuff between 9 and 40. Not sure how but maybe you got a bad batch. Maybe you could give them a call with the lot number and see what they say.

Never had that issue. Have been shooting it almost exclusively lately.

On the other hand someone will chime in on how bad Winchester is.

If you don't want it I'll gladly dispose of it though my gun

I also get the 350 rnds in ammo can when on sale. No issues here. Have a few friends that prefer it to any other. Only issue I have had with any is the aluminun casings fte....

I ran fifty rounds of Blazer Brass through my 1937 P-08 without a problem or hangup. No failures out of a notoriously finicky pistol. It gets my vote.

only issue i have with blazer is when i tried to reload 45 cal have to use small primer

My nines are a S&W 929 and a CZ 75 Tactical Sport. I have put a combined 3,000 rounds of Blazer Brass through them with no drama at all. I clean these handguns after each range session. Have not noticed that they are any harder to clean than normal.

I have never had an issue with their 9mm. I would say it's no dirtier than WWB or Federal Champion.

Plus, 9mm Blazer Brass shoots stronger than Freedom Munitions New (which is just about the weakest 9mm range ammo I've used--but it is a tad cleaner than most)

Heck, I'll shoot Prvi Partizan, which make Blazer seem like Earth Day ammo.

No issues with Blazer. Just got to clean the gun when I'm done.

Accuracy, to me, is most important. If I get good accurate shots and the bullet goes where I aim, smoke and dirt is a non issue. I don't know about anybody else but I clean my guns after every trip to the range. Never tried Blazer Brass but, if it worked well, I'd keep using it.

Recoil and muzzle flip too much for you eh? What you experienced was ammo that's not downloaded to the point
of barely being able to function in some guns. I've found
Blazer Brass to be some of the best of the bargain priced
ammo on the market. And as to recoil and muzzle flip being
too much to handle in a full size 9mm???? .22 LR is supposedly becoming more available again.

I've also had good luck with blazer in 9mm. Also with Freedom- agree its a tad weaker but good enough for practice. The .38 special works fine too. Probably just a bad batch.

I have used a few thousand rounds of 9mm blazer brass, and probably close to a thousand in 40 and 45 with zero issues. Cleaner than Winchester white box by a good measure. Please send any you don't want to shoot to me for prompt disposal into the backstop at my local range.

I've also shot 1000's or rounds of Blazer Brass without any issues. It's actually my go to 9mm ammo. I've also shot 400 rounds of 22lr Blazer with out any issues. Blazer is a division of CCI.

Have shot a lot of Blaser Brass over the years and it's always been 100% for me. As a loose rule I find Fed Champion, WWB, Blaser Brass, PMC Bronze and AE roughly the same quality for range stuff. Rem-UMC a tad on the lighter side but I'll shoot it if it's available. Lately it's been lots and lots of Freedom Munitions stuff.

Probably closer to 20-1. I am glad to hear all the positive reviews because I have never used Blazer Brass I did purchase several hundred rounds of 40 a few weeks ago that I haven't had a chance to use yet.

I am sorry you had a problem, maybe a bad batch. I have fired many 10's of thousands of Blazer aluminum without any problems at all.

I hope it works well there has been some good deals on it lately. I bought a 1000 rounds of 9mm and 45 ACP, haven't shot any of either yet.

When I shoot Blazer .45 Auto, it stays at the range. I have enough .45 Auto with large pistol primer pockets to reload without having to do an additional sort.

I am a "bargain shopper" when it comes to range ammo, my only requirement is it being manufactured here in the USA. I've shot my fair share of Blazer Brass in 9mm, 40 S&W and 45 auto with no problems or issues. The 124 gr. 9mm load shoots very well in my Shield 9 and all my other FS pistols. So unless I start seeing issues with it myself, I'll keep buying/shooting it :-)

I've shot allot of it and found no difference in higher priced ammo. I actually like the .45acp.

At the right price I'll buy more.

I was introduced to Blazer Brass back during the worst of the ammo shortage. I rank it as better than WWB and not as good as Speer Lawman as range ammo.

I've used a half-dozen cases in 9mm and .45 over the last few years. No issues.

Shooting blazer for years...no issues.....

I actually like Blazer brass, and I keep the brass for reloading and find its on par with Federal. I avoid Winchester both because it's filthy, and because as a reloader Win brass is junk now. I have lots of brass that started as a mix of Blazer, Speer, Federal and Winchester...the Winchester has been sorted out due to splits, loose necks, etc. I dont have any problems with Blazer Brass and shoot a lot of it in 9mm.

Blazer Brass is good ammo. I've shot several cases of it over the years with no issues. It is a little ugly compared to other factory ammo. They don't seem to polish it as shiny as others, but it doesn't affect function. I'll shoot the aluminum, too.

Never had a problem with Blazer brass or aluminum case for that mattter...in any caliber.

I used to use whatever I can get for range ammo. Blazer, WWB, Fiochi, PMC, HPR, Magtech etc. For a new gun break in/testing I still do the same.

No problems with Blazer Brass or any of the ammo I've put in my SD9VE - Blazer Brass, WWB, Federal aluminum case, Speer Gold Dot, Independence. No issues of any kind

Another vote of confidence using CCI Blazers (brass or aluminum). Usually they are my go to for range time in all my handguns. It has gone bang for me and has been accurate enough for my needs. I haven't noticed it being cleaner or dirtier than others.

Well, let's make it 40 to 1. I've shot, reloaded, and re-shot thousands of rounds of Blazer brass and have found it to produce no more issues than any other brass. Some of that brass has over 20 reloads and still looking fine.

Blazer is what I use mostly be it 9mm,.40 or 45ACP. Good price and frankly good ammo.

The only Blazer I've ever shot is a box of 38 Special aluminum crud I bought back in the late 80's and wasn't impressed at all with it. Some of the absolute dirtiest ammo I've ever shot. But that's a long ways between then and now, and I don't hold that over on the Blazer Brass ammo. But I just don't shoot factory ammo. I do know the 9 MM Blazer brass cases reload very well and seem to hold up though. If I had to buy some store-bought ammo to run in my pistols, I wouldn't turn away from the Blazer Brass stuff. But I refuse to waste money of the aluminum cased stuff since the cases aren't reusable.

Guess it was a bad batch, because this stuff is horrible. Stuff all over my hands after shooting it. Just nasty.

Maybe I'll end up with more someday, and it won't be quite so nasty.

Sounds like the ammo was old. The same thing happened when I fired a 20-year-old box of Sellier and Bellot ammo. Sooty, smokey, messy. I'll bet it was stored in a hot climate.

Brought a box of 350 rounds of Blaze Brass 9MM on sale at Gander Mtn and put 170 rounds through my M&P9 last weekend and didn't have any issues with it not going bang or causing malfunctions in my pistol. It left powder residue in all the right places, just like the few thousands of rounds of Winchester I've shot in my 9 and 40's.

Been just 2 years now that I've owned and been shooting my 2 MP 9's (a compact and a FS); and have roughly 2700 rounds total thru both. That total is near all 115fmj at the range, and probably split between Blazer Brass and Remington UMC. Never had any issues with either, tend to buy and use whatever i get on sale that month. Can't really say if one is dirtier or less accurate than the other based on how i use them, figure i kind of expect a gun i'm shooting to get a bit dirty after 1-200 rounds thru it. And I've never had a cleaning session that took longer based on ammo used. So i'll gladly continue to buy it.

I often use the Blazer Brass .45ACP in my series 1 Kimber Ultra Carry. Ran 200 rounds of it through her last weekend without a hitch and cleaning was no issue.

You need to shoot some blackpowder guns with the worst quality powder you can lay your hands on. Ever after no smokeless loadings will really seem that dirty.

I bought the 350 bulk Blazer Brass in 9mm. the casings are dirty but not oily or waxy like cheap bulk 22 ammo. Usually shoot Win White box or Umc and the bras is way shiner/cleaner to look at. Blazer shoots same as the other two in my m&p. Never had any trouble with UMC with over 1,000 rounds. If the price is par I stick with it.

Just shot a box a few weeks ago. Didn't notice anything amiss.
