Default Remington HTP 38 Spl +P 158 gr LHP at range today

I know that until I get it chronographed I cannot make a true determination, but Remington's HTP 38 Spl +P 158 gr LHP loading had noticeably LESS felt recoil than my standard 38 Spl +P loading using 158 gr swaged SWC with 5.2 grs of Unique.

Just my observation.

Remington again claimed to me via email that the HTP load was the same as their Express loading.

Chronographing in due course...

PPU standard pressure 38 special 158gr LRN have noticeably more recoil than the cartridges you mention, so I would say they aren't really a "+p"

The new Remington HTP is very watered down and is at least 100 fps slower than advertised. Their +P today is a joke!

For SD & HD stick with either Buffalo Bore (their velocities are dead-on correct) or Speer Gold Dots (at least somewhat close). The Rem's and Win's are pathetic according to my Chronograph. If you do a search here you will find some of my posts on this.

I carried the Remington Express loading for years; but after reading some posts on the new version, I've switched to the standard-pressure Buffalo Bore 158gr. LSWCHP-GC. It clocks almost identically to the good old Remington stuff, with a gas check and reduced flash.

Just so you know - my actual Chronograph testing proved that the BB STANDARD Velocity stuff is actually HOTTER than the Remington and Winchester +P loads are! Up until I started Chronographing I just couldn't believe how watered down the Rem & Win loads have become - very sad!
