Can BB subsonic ammunition be used in an M&P 9 MM pistol?

Default Don't see why not....

A good bit of 9mm ammo is subsonic, especially the 147 gr bullets. Besides, BB sez it's good for any 9mm but it is made for suppression.

I was a firearms instructor at an agency in the 80's that tried to go to subsonic rounds. 100 officers with 1st 2nd and 3rd gen smith's all officer owned. Some ran on it some didn't. Eventually gave up on the sub rounds and went back to more robust ammo.

Are you talking specifically about this ammo?

https://www.buffalobore.com/index.ph...uct_list&c=138

If so, yes, absolutely. Item 24I is my carry ammo and it works perfectly. I've also shot item 24J but it's too expensive for plinking.

Here's what Tim Sundles says about item 24I:

Quote:
"This new subsonic 9MM Parabellum/Luger ammo was designed to fill the need for full power suppressible ammo. While this ammo is full power, it is “Standard Pressure” and falls within the SAAMI guidelines of 35,000 PSI, so it is designed for use in ALL 9MM handguns, suppressed or otherwise and will not cause accelerated wear in your firearm."
And welcome to the forum btw

Thank you gentlemen. I read somwhere that using Buffalo Bore at all in my new M&P 9 mm would violate the warranty so I just wanted to check that with you experts. The subsonic is the only 9mm HP I found from BB that was a standard load. Everything else was +P and I know I can't use that. Jorge it is nice to be here; thank you.

While I have not tried BB's 9mm offerings (don't own a 9mm anymore) I've used a pretty fair amount and variants of their .38 Specials & .357's with NO failures of any kind. Their ammo has proven to be reliable and accurate.

While you might not want to feed a steady diet of BB's through your pistol, I don't see why occasional use and carry would be detrimental.

Why bother, when you can get Fed. HST 147 standard pressure,1000 fps, for $24.87 box of 50 rds.? Buffalo Bore is $27.36 for only 20 rds.

Was checking out a new pistol with a variety of ammo this last Sunday=Hornaday, Blazer, Sig Sauer and Buffalo Bore. The only failure to fire was Buffalo Bore and the worst accuracy was BB= 3.5" @ 10 yards. Best was the Sig (1.5 @ 10 yards). That was in a 10mm with a Lone Wolf Barrel (better accuracy w/o the compensator, BTW).

Got pretty much the same results with my Glock 22 and G27 (both converted to 357 Sig), with a Lone Wolf and a Storm Lake barrel except best accuracy was ~ 1" (Hornaday). Buffalo Bore was about 2/3 of the way down in the pack, behind Blazer "cheapo" ammo.

Has anyone tried Underwood Ammo? It's a lot cheaper (about the same price for 2x the ammo==20 vs 50 rounds) and gets better reviews. I'm gonna be trying out the 357 Sig Super penetrator (?) round as well as some 250 gr hardcast in the 10mm.
