I just recently ordered 500 rounds of this ammo in .223 caliber, 55 gr FMJ. It came out to be .20 cents per round. I have always liked to shoot other FMJ target ammo, but, for .20 cents a round VS .27-.35 cents a round........well, do the math.
I watched A LOT of YT videos about shooters using it and ALL of them gave it a thumbs up. Opinions?

I won't shoot steel cased ammo in any gun that wasn't designed with it in mind. I have seen many AR's choke on it. My department would scream if they found you shooting it in one of the department's Colt AR-15s or M-16s. Several friends shooting Wolf .308 steel case have had case head ruptures and separations in their FAL and M-1A rifles.

That said, I haven't shot any of this particular ammo and so can't comment on it.

Wolf doesn't make their own ammo, they buy it and package it as their own brand. It used to be all Russian-made but stuff they sell now comes from all over. I have shot some of their 5.56 brass case made in Taiwan and it was very good.

Let us know how it shoots for you. That is an attractive price.

I've only shot a couple hundred rounds of the 62gr Wolf Polyformance ammo out of my AR, but it functioned 100% and was reasonably accurate too.

Wolf Gold is great stuff.

I shoot it all the time but I prefer to stock brass.

Typically they ate underpowered. If you chronograph it you'll find that Wolf is often downloaded across all their calibers.

I've put over a thousand rounds thru four or five ARs without any
discernable problems. Over on another forum that focuses on AR15's, their ammo sticky gives Wolf and other steel stuff an overall thumbs-up.

Lucky Gunner did a in-depth analysis of steel case/bi-metal bullet wear effects that is worth reading.

Some owners have persnickety rifles that won't cycle Russian .223, and the myth about "the coating comes off in the chamber" still persists. Life's an IQ test...

The only hard rule is: don't shoot steel followed by brass without a thorough cleaning.

Steel doesn't seal the chamber as well and leaves more deposits. Brass seals well and the extra "gunk" can lead to failures to extract.

HK roller locker guns and clones love steel case. Extraction is violent and the chamber isn't sealed by design. One reason I won't give up my PTR91, it's a cheap .308 to shoot.

I've never had a problem with the stuff in ARs but don't forget the rule above.

I shoot Wolf in several calibers. 9/40/45/223/308(not much in 308) I choose to shoot it because it is not reloadable and on occasion, well, most of the time really, I shoot in non-range situations. Where I live there are things that live under and around the brush and undergrowth that take offence at invading their home to retrieve brass. So the Wolf and other non-reloadable brands are the answer. I have even used it in rifle matches. In my current state of expertise it will shoot as well or better than I am capable of performing. It shoots well in both my Colt H-Bar and my DPMS M4 clone.

The downside is that it is much dirtier than most milsurp or commercial brass ammo. After about 300 rounds, cleaning is no longer an option, it is a requirement. The gas system will become seriously fouled and require attention. There is also the issue of excessive wear/ breakage of extractors and gunk in chambers. This may or may not be factual but it has not been a factor in my shooting experience. That doesn't mean it hasn't happened, I just haven't had an issue with it. Extractors and spring are inexpensive and are probably a part of most AR shooters range kit anyway.

In summary, When I find a good deal on .223/5.56 ammo,(or any other caliber I shoot) I buy what I can afford. If that ammo is steel cased, I can live with it. It is still(for now) a free country and if you choose not to shoot steel, that's OK by me, it is your choice and you are not required to shoot anything in you firearm that you don't think is good for it.
