The ammo was only made for a couple of years, largely because there were so few guns made for it and a lot of those guns were never being shot. Thus, not much demand.

You see some on the secondary market and occasionally at gun shows but usually only a few boxes.

I see, I acquired some Federal Premium 356 TSW 147 GR. HYDRA-SHOK AMMO, but have no gun just wondering what its worth? one site has it for $2.95 a round, which is ridiculous ..

Welcome to the Forum

While there is not currently any factory ammunition in production, many of us would love to see some increased popularity in this cartridge.

As already stated, ammunition does turn up from time to time. Unfortunately some folks are asking prices higher than Gold on the various auction sites.

If you handload, the ammunition situation is much better

I am hoping to see information and experience with this cartridge and it's associated firearms in a easier to find location.

Please share with us some photos and a story or two about the 356TSW firearm(s) that you are planning to use.

The prices from Mr Ammo-One are unrealistic.

I recently turned down 31 ,20 round boxes of Hydra-shok at $25 per box for being too expensive. I picked up a larger quantity for far less back in January

There are fair deals if you are willing to look for them. If you want it fast, there are plenty of unreasonable deals out there also

WELL , FROM MEMORY THE 356TSW IS A 9X21.5. I LOADED TONS FOR A BUDDY USING STARLINE 9X21 BRASS USING THE HORNADY 147GR XTP BULLET. STARLINE NOW HAS 9X23 IN PRODUCTION IF YOU WANT TO TRIM BRASS. JP

Starline did sell 9x23 Win brass, don't know if they still do. They also have 9x23 SuperComp brass which they claim will also take high pressure, even though the base is not as thick as the 9x23 Win brass. I have made some really stout loads using the SuperComp cases and have about 500 of them. Both cases are rimless, just like the 9x19.

I have no interest in the .356, but for those few who own such guns, it seems a simple job to roll your own ammo. 9x23 or 9x19 reloading dies should be adequate for the job. I find AA#5 powder to be ideal for super-hot 9x23 Winchester loads, exceeding 1500 ft/sec with 124 grain bullets. Should be good for .356 TSW also.

As an ammo/brass/cartridge collector,I watch for 356TSW realizing the scarcity of the stuff. 3 weeks ago at the Novi Michigan show I picked up a 20rd box of Federal 147 hydra-shock and 2 boxes of 50rd Federal 147 FMJ Match. All 3 boxes for $70 down from $90 because I bought all 3. His remark was nobody looks at them or ever requests 356TSW. I don't have a 356TSW pistol and probably never will, for me it's just scarce/collectable ammo.

Over ten years ago I bought several 1000-round cases of the discontinued Federal 356 TSW ammo from CDNN for less than 100$/case. Since then I have never seen any of this ammo for sale in any other than small collector quantities. Starline produced brass for this caliper some years ago but I do not know whether they still do.
