Default Ranger 38 Special +P 130 grain Bonded Hollow point

Is this the same as the PDX round that's normally sold in boxes of 20?

My thought would be yes, but it has a different product code than the two box types (S38PD8) I have for the PDX round. If you find an answer from Winchester, please do report it here for the rest of us - thanks for bringing this up.

When I asked the Winchester LE distributor this question he said he'd check and call me back. When he called back he said the RA38B Ranger 130gr +P Bonded sold in 50-rd boxes is the same load sold to the public in PDX1 20-rd boxes.

FWIW, 4-5 years ago I was able to buy new Ranger RA38B for $24.95/box or $249.50/case, at an individual officer discount. That was when it was sold in the tan Ranger box. I bought it because I wasn't able to get the Speer 135gr GDHP SB at the time. (Even our agency order for the Speer .38 Spl 135gr +P GDHP SB took several months, and it finally arrived after we'd bought some cases of the W-W RA38B in the interim, since those were sitting on the W-W distributor's shelves.)

Nowadays I carry either the W-W 130gr +P, Speer 135gr +P or Rem Golden Sabre 125gr +P loads in my +P-rated J's, as I eventually ended up being able to get some boxes of each of those loads.

$20 for a 50-rd box of the current RA38B is a better price than I was able to get a few years ago. I'd probably put back another few boxes of it for that price, if it was sitting on the shelf of the area W-W LE distributor.

I have a box of Winchester 38 Sp. +P 130 Gr. SXT S38SP and a box of
Winchester Bonded PDX1 .38 Sp. +P 130 Gr. JHP No part number on the
box but to my old eyes they look identical? I also have a box of
Winchester Ranger .38 Sp. +P+ 110 Gr. Jacketed HP. RA38110HP+
(Law Enforcement Only) I think that means Winchester only sells this
one to Law Enforcement?

Last week, I had my 4" 15-3 out to the range, and shot both the Winchester PDX1 and the Speer SB Gold Dot.
First time I have tried the Speer.
They seemed Largely the same in shooting them...same recoil, same muzzle blast. The Winchester slightly edged the Speer in 25yd accuracy.

Personally, I think the best way to describe the previous SXT S38SP 130gr JHP was as a "Talon-less Talon derivative".

I helped burn up several cases of the old W-W 110gr JHP +P+ when it was being cycled out of service as revolvers were being phased out. It had some stout muzzle blast and a bit of muzzle whip, and I was very careful of what revolvers I used to shoot it. (Meaning Magnum revolvers or an early 640 that was marked rated for +P+.)

The PDX1 & RA38B are apparently differently packaged versions of the newer load defensive +P bonded load Winchester has decided to offer both LE/Gov and the private/commercial shooters.
