The results ain't pretty--the Hornady Critical Duty Flex-Lock is the only acceptable bullet among four tested.

Sure wish Federal would come up with TWO 180g. HST loads for the 10mm Auto, one around 1100FPS and another around 1250 - 1300 FPS.

Hmm...I have MANY 50boxes of 40S&W HST180 ammo; I think I'll pull a bunch--one WACK of my Lyman kinetic puller did it--and see what I can come up with.

I have to question where you managed to find some Hornady "flex lock" bullets for reloading. The only way I've been able to get my hands on the bullets used in the Critical Duty/Zombie loads is by purchasing the loaded ammunition and that isn't cheap. Personally for Hunting ammunition I've found Hornady's FTX bullets to work well and they are also VERY accurate in my handguns and 357 Magnum 1892 Winchester.

I'd also be interested in results from Speer's Gold Dots because those are bullets I can actually find on occasion. As for the poor performance of the PPU and PPMC loads, this isn't a surprise as both are Budget ammunitions. Sig Sauer is new to the ammunition scene so it's really a surprise they haven't figured out how to overcome the effect of a hollow point getting clogged.

BTW, if you want a steaming hot load for your 10mm Hodgdon Longshot is the powder to use. I use it to duplicate my 40 caliber Speer Gold Dot carry ammo that features a 165 grain bullet clocking at 1150 fps from my P229. The major difference is I use an Extreme 165 grain HP for my practice ammo.

Personally for Hunting ammunition I've found Hornady's FTX bullets to work well and they are also VERY accurate in my handguns and 357 Magnum 1892 Winchester. I don't hunt with my 10; these are Personal Defense cartridges for me.

I'd also be interested in results from Speer's Gold Dots because those are bullets I can actually find on occasion. Not me; GDs plug with thick clothing (or other soft stuff it passes thru) and then don't expand. I have plenty of expansion-tested GDs that are still groove diameter.

Of those I have personally tested and photographed, low-MF powders include HS-6, SR-4756, A7, A9, and Universal. High-flash powders include Longshot, 800-X, and A5.
