FREEDOM MUNITION'S Update
Figured I would pass on info!
I ordered another thousand rounds of 9mm on Sunday. Emailed them today on a update as order was still pending, Unlike my past orders! It was mentioned here that they are behind and CS confirmed that they are backed up 7/10 days maybe a little more,, Yes it is a bummer you buy a in stock order to find out it will be delayed but today that is common. SO anyone who orders from freedom and I am sure others as well expect delays of 1 to 2 weeks, SO as of today 08/17/2016 they are behind and not trying to rip you of
,like trying to find a AR in stock lol

If they showed the ammo was out of stock & production behind 2 weeks would you still buy it or would you buy from somewhere else without the wait? They show it in stock when it really isn't & they get your money under false pretenses.

Most of these vendors don't bill your credit card until the order ships, so they aren't getting the customers money under false pretenses. As for the delay, they set their manpower levels based on AVERAGE volume, so something can be in stock but they don't have enough manpower to process the orders as quickly as some wish. However, if a vendor such as this set his manpower levels at the peak levels they he would be paying his employees to sit around playing cards during normal shipping levels. Naturally that would have an effect on the cost to the customer. So, you have a choice, go somewhere else and get faster shipping while paying more, or pay less and have to wait a week or two for your order.
BTW, I'm old enough to remember when "Mail Order" typically meant a wait of a month or more and your credit card was dinged as soon as your order arrived at the vendor. So, I'm not going to complain if I have to wait a week or two, I simply place my order in advance of actually needing a particular item.

I know the are not rip offs, They are a good company! But I agree if they show it in stock you would think shipping would be faster. I also know all ammo manufactures are busy and pulling orders, packing shipping takes time, so a delay of a week is not bad IMO... When we get busy at work customers have to wait longer as well! BUT if they charged my CC and I had yo wait a month or 6 weeks then I would be ticked. I am also a Old fart who is used to slow mail lol

I placed an order with them on 8/12; a Friday. It shipped Monday 8/15, and arrived today, 8/17. No complaints here.
I grant you it wasn't for cases of product, only about a hundred bucks worth. But I don't really see how they could have sent it much faster than they did.

B.E.
My past orders have been shipped fast and I also know a lot of ammo is going out the door so I have no issue with a week or 2.As they say stuff happens!
My purpose of the post was to let people know they are behind a little but will ship aibt later then normal. I know some people get P.Od when stuff is not there overnight lol

Half of my order is on its way that I ordered almost three weeks ago. I wouldn't expect it anytime soon

I could never figure out why a Co. would ship half a order ,as it will cost more to ship 2. But guess they figure something is better then nothing.. But I do know they are super busy, plus I still have 700+ rounds left

I just accustomed to the GS site that states before you order that they have high volume & it won't ship until 2 days after you order or if it says "in stock" you try to order & they really don't have it your order won't complete. I don't think freedom is a rip off I just like a little more accuracy on my order . I feel that is better business.

I agree!
I place my order 30+days in advance so I have plenty of time to shoot up some of my current ammo at the LGS&R!
There are NOT many places where you can get 40 S&W 180 gr RNFP Ball Ammo for TS, for less than$12.50 a box of 50! And quite often they offer Low flat rate shipping or, even Free Shipping at certain times (like holidays).
I have never received any ammo from them that was an issue! The best part of all, is, no running around town looking for ammo. No tax! Delivered to your front door! Also, They do not charge your CC until shipped.

If you need ammo that bad/fast you have other issues.... Like you better up your inventory level. November 8 ain't far off, you may be waiting years for ammo if you don't get it now....

I've bought more ammo this summer than I have in the last three years combined. 22lr, 38spcl, 357 mag, 9mm, 40 S&W, 45acp, 12 and 20 gauges, even some more 30-06. Basically adding a little more (a LOT more of 22lr) of every caliber I own except 30-30. I need Hornady and/or Underwood to put LeveRevolution on sale...

I haven't gone crazy on ammo, but I have been buying a lot more reloading supplies. I've been buying some 22LR since I can't (won't) reload that, but only when I can get it for under 6 cents a round.

I don't reload - don't have a place to do so. I haven't really gone crazy, just adding on a bit. 100, 200 rounds here and there of each caliber when there's a brand and bullet weight I like on sale, or an online supplier is offering free (or discounted) shipping.

UPS says my AMMO will be here Friday so 2 weeks from order to my back door I would say pretty good and with people stocking up more today then before I would say real good time frame!
I do not go over board on ammo, pick up .22 when price is fair,I REFUSE to pay 50$ for a 25$ box of .22 that the gougers try to sell it for. I am shooting more so 1k rounds of 9mm will not last too long ,same w/the .22 plus I have a 14 y/o grandson helping me burn some
This will be my third order from Freedom and so far I ahve been happy with their ammo. BUT always looking for a deal

I have a membership at the LGS&R which is quite close to my house. I shoot there approx. 3-5 times a month and use up a lot of target ammo.
I try to keep 1,200-1,500 rds. in my inventory. When it starts getting low, I order from FM and do, 'The Wait Thing'. I don't mind a 3-4 week delay as I will have plenty to shoot as I wait for delivery!
I have never been disappointed with FM's Ammo!

MB, I am with you as I have a stash of 3/500 rounds to keep me covered when I want to shoot! SO never in a rush! If I ran out I could run down the street to my LGS or Wal Mart!. As for Freedom Munitions I have to say after 3 thousand rounds I am very happy with them and looks like they are keeping Flat Rate shipping at $7.50 for awhile longer! I got this order for $9.95 shipping + 5% off the order so IMO a GREAT deal

Yep. I took advantage of the free shipping as well. FM is decent ammo at a good price. I always keep plenty available for immediate use. I'm just increasing the height of the pile.
Anyone that doesn't have enough before this Nov has no one to blame except themselves. Store it properly and it lasts decades. Worst case is we buy now and hopefully then take a break from buying next year.

@martybee,
I saw that as well, so I placed an order but then had to cancel it yesterday because I needed the money for a new gun. Luckily I still have a coupon for free shipping as a first time buyer.
One thing that surprised me was how fast they sold out of the .45 A.C.P.
I put 3 box's each of new JHP .45 A.C.P. and LC in the cart got distracted for about 15 minutes and when I went to pay for it they said the A.C.P. was sold out, unbelievable.

i trust their reman stuff n i don't wanna try some other place.
i need thousands of rounds to learn double action n i can't afford new stuff.

Targetsports has Blazer, Prvi Partizan and Remington for $0.30. Free shipping. .22s are $0.10. I shoot several boxes of .22s for every box of real bullets I shoot. That helps keep my cost down.
Other places advertising cheaper prices but not having any reminds me of a trader I knew that was selling new cars for $5.00 each. He stated he didn't have any in stock at the moment but when he got some in the price might be a little higher. Larry

thing is, freedom has 158 gr reman for 21 cents.
that's a big difference when you need thousands of rounds.
my last case of federal bulk was 6 1/2 cents, delivered.

Hey Susie
Something you might want to consider is reloading.
I started about 6 months ago and it has made a huge difference.
I started collecting my brass even longer ago because I had been considering it so I did not have the expense of buying brass.
$280 in equipment (single stage)
$25-30 powder
$5 per 100 primers
$40 to $60 per 500 bullets depending on caliber and weight
If you do need brass you figure about $20 per 100 but keep in mind, you will be able to use handgun brass 8,9,10 times depending how hot you load it.
costs me about 14 cents per round to reload.
You figure you will be halfway paid for by the time you shoot 1000 rounds of factory
Just an alternative to waiting for ammo.
Doc

Thanks Larry for the heads up. Just ordered a case of Remington, 500 rounds, .38 spl., from Target Sports. $152.07 (includes insurance). I'm not too keen on re-manufactured stuff. And since I don't re-load I can always sell the brass to someone who does...thus bringing down the price I paid per round.

Ordered from Target Sports on the 6th. Still haven't shipped yet. Good prices but service could definitely be better.

The other western ammo store: Selway Armory
Freedom and Selway get most of my ammo orders.
Selway has a much wider variety, where Freedom pumps out huge volume of common cartridges. Selway prices are still very good.

I've been ordering bulk ammo from FM for a few years now and I always factor in about 2 weeks for delivery time as I always have enough range ammo on hand that I never really "need" the ammo ASAP. It just gets added to what's already on the shelf.

Do find it worth reloading 9mm ? Just wondering if I should get the equipment for that

"Roll your Own" is fine for high volume shooters, or those looking for another hobby; I find I don't do the former, and at 85 yrs. I don't need another hobby. I shoot about 1-2k rounds a year and collect my brass and sell it to others who reload. It helps offset my costs for shooting.
