Default 500 S&W Magnum 350gn VS 700gn

Ok, this is for the few seasoned .500 S&W shooters we have. I have had my 6.5" 500 for a few years now. My practice loads are 350grn JHP and my hunting load is 375gn Bonded JHP. I can feel a noticeable difference in recoil between the two.

So I have recently ordered a box of 700gn CFN. I was hoping to get a report from some of you that may have shot this larger round. How much difference should I expect?

as always TIA.

Load 1 at a time first time you go to shoot them. They are way more them you will ever expect. Very load and kick like a mule. Not that much fun. But it will kill a freight train

The 3 lb. S&W 629 44 mag. with a 340 @ 1478 has a RECOIL of 36 ft/lbs.

The 4.3 lb. 500 mag with a 350 @ 1888fps has a recoil of 51 ft/lbs.

+1 with the above thread.......... Hold on !!

A 500gr lead bullet at 1500fps has a recoil rated at......... 59 ft/lbs. +/-

For the .500 S&W about one ounce is all the bullet weight you'll ever need. Do not load above 440 grains and you will be quite pleased and impressed with the results.

Loading a 700 grain is pure ridiculous....there is no animal on Earth that needs a 700 grain slug producing LESS energy than the 440 grain.
Yes, I agree, totally ridiculous... that's why I bought one box. I can't imagine a logical justification other than I want the experience once.

Then if T-REX ever attacks I I'll be ready.

To some degree me owning a .500 S&W is in itself ridiculous but I like it, like the recoil, like the BOOM, this promise to be more of all the above.
