Rem 158 gr +p lhp discontinued?
Has this ammo been discontinued? Midway is showing it as discontinued. Many places haven't had it in stock for a while. I emailed remington, but haven't heard back. Anyone have any info?

Perhaps it's that Midway no longer handles it, hence it's "discontinued" as far as they are concerned. Hope that's the case! If not I'm glad I stashed six box's of it away.

There is a new stock number for the new HTP series ammunition. It is still listed on the Remington web site: Remington
The last several times I have been to Cabela's in Lehi, UT looking for .38 Spl. they have always had some in-stock.
It definitely has not been discontinued.

If it has been discontinued, it would be a disaster beyond measure! This is the United States: baseball, hot dogs, apple pie... and the LHP.

OK, just received an email back from Remington. Take it for what it's worth.
Thank you for contacting Remington! We appreciate you taking the time to write in with your question. This ammo is not currently in production and I do not show that it is scheduled. Thank you!
Thank you and best regards,

The ballistic numbers are identical to the Winchester 158g +P LHP if that will work for you.

Like said above, the FBI Load has been moved over to their HTP ammo like. The ammo is the same but the box Changed and price went up.
The person answering the questions at Remington typed in the old number and it is discontinued but not gone.
Old Part # R38S12
New Part # RTP38S12

I see that SportsmansGuide is currently out of them now.
That's where I got mine for around $18/50.
I Really wish I had bought more now.
BTW, it was the HTP version

I think the current Remington stuff is a bit watered down anyway. Buffalo Bore's offering is much more truer to the old FBI load these days, albeit you'd be paying a premium for it.

Both a bit watered down AND from what I have seen the lead got harder - pretty much negated the advantage they used to have.

Just to be precise, Buffalo Bore's standard pressure 158gr LSWCHP is what's consistent with the FBI load. Their +P version is hotter.

I'm a bit late to the game, but the Cabela's store in Thornton, CO has the 158 grain +P lswc Remington on the shelf.
