Cool Perfecta ammo

I picked up 3 boxes of Perfecta 158 gn. ammo today @ Walmart. Has anyone shot this ammo, and is any good. It was $14.60 a box and I thought I would give a try.

I've used Perfecta in 9mm (many hundreds of rounds), 38spl, and 223 without issue. I've passed along some 230g 45acp to friends, and they had no complaints.

I have used some of their .38 (seems like was 158 grain) and a whole lot of their 9mm. Never a problem with any of it shooting well in several different pistols (S&W, Glock, Walther, Springfield, etc.)

9mm is $9.78 for box of 50, I don't know that I can beat that price retail anywhere.

The 9mm Perfecta is garbage. I'll help you out and dispose of it for you, no chargePerfecta ammo
If you insist on keeping it, you'll be fine.

It's just fine. Pretend you are shooting Fiocchi.

I shoot it all the time (115 g) in my M&P9 full size. I love it. Never jams, accurate, and cheap. What more could you ask for? In fact, when I go to Walmart I usually buy 2-3 boxes of it and Federal Champion. My pistol eats them and I'm very accurate with them so I rarely branch out to other manufactures because for me this is the best deal in town.

My son has bought a bunch in 9mm and has had no problems. I've shot some of the 38's (can't remember what grain weight) and it was good too. The brass is good for reloading too.

The Perfecta brand ammo from Walmart is very good range ammo and the cases are brass boxer primed and great for reloading so don't leave them on the range floor.

I don't think you can beat the price of their .357mag ammo?

I bought some 357 Mag and it felt like I was shooting a .22 Maybe it was just a bad batch but it was way under powered.

The .357 ammo is good, but over 100 fps slower than the equivalent Federal. I posted some velocities, I think the thread was titled Inexpensive Ammo.

I've shot a lot of Perfecta .38 and .357 ammo, and to a smaller extent, their .45 as well. Really good range fodder for the money. The .357 is loaded a little lighter than some of the other brands, but for punching paper, it's irrelevant. Really nice, reloadable brass as well. I'd recommend it.

I shot two boxes of Perfecta 9mm today in my Shield. Seems very nice too shoot. When I got home and cleaned the gun there was very minimal residue. I will be buying more Perfecta. I also have some 45 ACP but did not shoot that. My local Walmart has had several calibers of Perfecta in stock. I am anxious to try the 357 magnum as well.

I've shot the .38, the 9mm, and the .223. Good stuff. Reliable. Inexpensive. Buy it when you find it in stock.

Never had any issues with their .40, .223, or .308 ammo.. I had a VP9 and it didn't like Perfecta very much. I said no gun of mine will be a princess and traded it right after the first range trip.

+1;
I buy the 9mm ammo and have no problems reloading it.

Cabela's has their brand, Herters that is made for them, which
is a ok low cost target ammo.

No problem here in my SD, but it eats everything I've thrown at it. I have around 500 rounds of .223 that I have yet to try out, just need to find the time.

Hmm. I have some Perfecta 45 acp to try but have not yet. The 9 mm was very clean. I tried to pick up some more last Sunday but the shelves were bare of Perfecta in the calibers I was looking for.

I buy Perfecta 9mm anytime it's in stock at my local Wal-Mart. I've never had any problems with it.

This is a fascinating thread! The basic theme of other threads with Perfecta ammunition as the subject expound on what total **** it is! Dirty, erratic, jams, won't function the guns, and on, and on,............... Supposedly it was so bad that Wal-Mart wouldn't be handling it anymore.

Now comes this thread where everyone sings its' praise! Go figure.

The prior threads were so negative that I, who hardly ever shoots anything which I have not loaded, went looking to find some Perfecta 9mm. I had to experience it myself as I couldn't believe any ammunition could be as bad as those other threads were portraying it! Finally, after watching for Perfecta for, literally, months, finally found some .40 S&W a couple of weeks ago. Just last night found 9mm for the first time and bought 2 boxes for just over $9 each! Well, it's Winter, so I probably won't be shooting any for a while, but will chronograph it when I do.

Perfecta is a Trade Mark of Fiocchi UK. The ammunition is marked as manufactured in Italy and it is packed in the typical cheap trays that Fiocchi uses! It has typical Fiocchi brass jacketed bullets (9mm). It is obviously Fiocchi ammunition, I have a very difficult time envisioning that the quality is not up to typical Fiocchi, either Italian or Fiocchi USA.

As said, I haven't yet shot any, so this isn't a direct endorsement of Perfecta in general. I simply cannot understand how two groups (or more) on the same forum, could reach such disparate opinions on the same product from a reputable and highly respected manufacturer!

Sounds like a problem with two different lots - not an uncommon happening. Here's where lot numbers would be helpful.

I'm waiting to hear how your lot turned out.

I haven't had a problem with their handgun ammo, but you might want to search Google for Perfecta 223 off center flash holes.

Shot a box of Perfecta 357 Magnum today for the first time. I'm no expert but it did not feel weak to me. It felt like a typical 357 Magnum factory load.

Perfecta is a brand made by Fiocchi.

Each manufacturer makes their own decisions on the components they use in their ammunition. While they must all conform to certain parameters to get their product to work, the primer, powder, hardness of the lead, thickness of the jacket, amount of crimp and even details of the cases (note the rounded outer edge of the case head frequently found on R-P headstamp 9mm brass) all of which can affect feed and function in a particular gun.

This is one of the reasons I load (essentially) everything I shoot. I can work up a load that works well in each of the guns I use them with and then I never have to worry about whether the round is loaded with the equivalent of HP-38 or Red Dot, whether the primer is sensitive or not, or the hardness of the lead in the bullet. Once I get a load fully worked up, it becomes like an Apple product, "It just works" and that's what you have to have if you're going to rely on that gun to keep you alive or put food on the table.

Default Perfecta .38 Special

I must add that the Perfecta .38 Special 158 gr FMJ has a bigger felt/heard bang than Remington 130 gr FMJ.

From a 4" Combat Masterpiece.

Anyone that has issues with "dirty ammo" making their gun not function either needs to learn how to clean their firearm or get a new one because their current one is a pice of junk.

I've shot hundreds of Perfecta and never an issue through my glocks

Buy it while it's there on the shelves even if you done think you need it today..

In my 3 local Walmarts the perfecta ammo sells out very quickly especially the 9mm and 223 and very often is not available again for several weeks.

I will second this opinion from NovaJoe. Judging by feel, the 158gr Perfecta 38 Special have as much recoil as some +P loads. I don't think they are a really hot load, but they are not wimpy like some 130gr target loads.

Overall, I have found the Perfecta 38 Special to be entirely satisfactory and more than reasonably priced. If they are in stock, I buy them.

I've also noticed that their 357 seems a little weak, but I'm just a weekend target shooter, so reliability and low cost are my main concerns.
Me and my best shooting bud have been using it (on and off, depending on availability) for a years now now, and haven't had a single bad experience with it, and that's with the 9mm, 38, 357, 45, and a single box of 223.
Also, I've read every thread I've run across on it, on numerous forums, and the overwhelming majority of reports have been highly positive.
In the chamberings it's offered in, the stuff is pretty much the very best bang-for-the-buck you can find (especially for individual boxes, over the counter).

I use the 9MM regularly. I buy it whenever I see it on the shelves at WM. The ONLY gun I have that had a problem with it is a new Colt, 9MM, New Agent. I had about a 30% failure to feed rate. However, that gun has had a problem will all varieties of ammo used in it, failure to feed. Some were better than others but none 100% reliable.

I sent the gun in question back to Colt and I am awaiting their action.

I have no problem with the Perfecta brand and will continue to buy/use it.
