Default 2" 357 vs 3.39" 9mm

Am I going to get better ballistics out of my new Glock 43 or my EDC 2" model 60 with 2" barrel?

To compare the two you have to realize that the Glock barrel is not that long if you measure it as you would a revolver barrel. i.e. 3.4" is the measurement from the back of the cartridge to the muzzle.

That said, ballistically the best round depends on the length, weight, shape, etc of the bullet. A 147gr 9mm will have almost twice external ballistic coefficient than a 158 gr .357 magnum lead flat nose.

If you are talking about terminal ballistics, then whichever load has more muzzle energy will generally have the advantage, all else being equal (size, shape, type, etc)

I'm no scientist, but I wouldn't wanna get shot with either one. Like the guy above me said, it depends on the particular rounds in question.

All else being equal you would need +P+ in your 43 to get the energy from a std 357 load out of your 60. Just my 2 cents.

+1 on what Black Talon said. If measured the same the "barrel" on your G43 is actually shorter than the barrel on your model 60. The extra two rounds in the G43 might make a difference though.

With a 9mm and any "Magnum" you just need to pull the trigger.......................

Ballistics will take care of them selves.........
and really mean very little, until the bullet style and fps has to
go past 50 yards.

You might be able to play around on that website...Ballistics by the Inch. If you compare a .357 and 9mm of the same company/ product line, you might get some quantifiable data that is useful. Assuming they have that info.

Sorry, I gotta say, probably no one is worried about BC inside of 200 yards. It is completely irrelevant at self defense ranges.

To answer the OP's question, a Buffalo Bore FBI load (20A, IIRC) out of a J frame would beat any 9mm offering in a subcompact semi. No 9mm load can get that heavy of bullet going that fast out of a <2" bbl.
