SGAmmo is my main source, but I've worked out a hybrid source for my .38SP and .357. For those rounds, I shoot Herters from Cabela's, when on sale, and in conjunction with 20% off member coupons, and their credit card rebate. When the sales align, I'll use their web page to order the ammo and have it shipped free to the store, for in-store pickup. That way I am assured to get the quantity I want, all neatly wrapped, for about 45% off.

as I have yet to order large bulk qty's at one time; I've had good luck with both Gander Mt and Cabelas when ammo I've needed was on sale. I'm close to both stores so can pick up there for free or have had it shipped home when they had a free ship offer. And as stated, I too take advantage of Cabelas coupons, points, and so on to help save coin.

Not ruling out SG Ammo just have tended to be one who buys a few boxes at a time. And I've never had an issue with orders from Cabelas or Gander

Another SGAmmo user here. Ordered a ton of ammo from them. Prices are good, shipping is always fast and reasonably priced, and they have a ton of stuff in stock. Usually if you buy at least 5 or 6 boxes the shipping works out to be pretty cheap. Of course I prefer to order by the case.

There is an Academy Sports about an hour from the house. I used to go there from time to time. They have guns and all kinds of accessories to look at and their ammo prices aren't too bad.

Prices constantly change. Best today won't be best tomorrow. There are maybe 10 sellers I have dealt with. They were best the day I ordered.

SGammo

Target Sports USA. - Free shipping if you buy by the case

These two typically have THE BEST prices. Even with paid shipping SGammo is only a dollar or two more than Target Sports.

SGammo paid shipping is also very affordable. I've seen good deals on other sites but then their shipping comes to an extra $40.

In addition to those already mentioned above, I would recommend Palmetto State Armory. Get on the email lists of all these companies. They send emails with their special deals all over the time.

I've been very pleased with Freedom Munitions for both their prices and selections. Been shooting their stuff regularly over the last 6 years or so..

I use ammoseek.com All the web stores they direct me to have been on the up and up. Good deliveries etc. They have a pretty comprehensive listing on most ammo sorted by price. I choose whether I want new v reloads, practice FMJ v SD hollow points etc.

I found that I need to progress in each site I select like I am placing an order to get a true "Shipping Cost". The shipping cost is not in the search prices and the selling companies vary greatly. Some even have free shipping if the total price is enough.

On my last buy of .22LR bulk packs it took 3 places to end up with the best price for identical ammo.

Default Need hints on best on-line sources for ammo.

My favorite is Brownell's - no sales taxes. I always wait until they have free shipping, which is great since ammo is heavy. I also wait until my brand is on sale. No sense paying too much for this stuff. Brownell's went nuts last September. For four to six weeks they ran MagTech on sale, no shipping, no taxes. I'm sure that the UPS drivers have already turned me in to the BATF!

Mass Ammo is also pretty good. No sales taxes and $12.99 flat rate shipping. One of our members has posted info on their sales coupon code in this section of the forum.

Cabela's work well for almost all of the same reason's as Brownell's, but they have stores in Georgia so sales taxes are added.

Last, but not least, is Bud's Their pricing varies from day to day. Just keep checking on their website. No sales taxes, but their shipping costs can be high, especially if you order multiple calibers and the shipment is split. There's a surcharge in that situation. Bud's does not stock their ammo. They have suppliers in different parts of the United States that fill and ship their ammo orders. For some reason I want to think that shipping costs are 10% of the shipped price.

I have bought ammo from Gun Broker. Low prices can be somewhat more difficult to find, depending on the seller.

Two information updates for Brownell's:

1. I am a target shooter/marksman. My preferred ammo is either PMC or MagTech. In the above example, Brownell's had MagTech 230 grain FMJ .45 ACP for $16.99/box (50 rounds) (regularly $21.99/box) or $ .34/round. That's about a 23% discount. I have not paid that low price in the past seven years.

2. Brownell's offers discounts to military retirees and LEOs. The percentage varies and I cannot state that it applies to ammo, but it does to other items. Contact Brownell's and they can provide you with the specific requirements for this discount.

I like Freedom Munitions and they regularly have free shipping specials. Targetsports has free shipping and good prices if you buy a case. I like both.

I'm a Brownells fan as well. I joined their Edge Program and shipping is free always.

They are currently running a nice sale on Aguila .22lr. Runs about .08 cents a round.

Just got my brick today; ordered on Friday.

As mentioned Target Sports USA is an excellent source for bulk ammo w/ free shipping plus an assortment of self defense loads.

I buy 9mm by the case, usually the best price per round on manufacturers I prefer. With patience you can find 115 to 147 grain quality ammo at the same low cost per round. I'll replenish SD rounds depending on sale prices.

My one gripe with TS: even if you buy bulk that qualifies for free shipping, they charge shipping for individual boxes of ammo added to the order. <shrug>

I've bought from Target Sports and SG Ammo, but I get most of my online ammo from Freedom Munitions.

All of those are good if you.................

don't run into here today, gone tomorrow.

I have not ordered at one place, just to check a few other places for a better price and returned to the best site one hour later to see..................
out of stock.

Have a good day.

What kind of ammo are you buying and in what quantity? Always buy in bulk! 1000 rounds.

Places like slickguns.com will clue you in to a lot of good deals but really to get the best price all the time you need to shop around and a lot will depend on what you are buying.

Work the coupons at larger retailers like Cabelas, Academy, Brownells and even MidwayUSA. With the right combinations you can get great deals.

Mass Ammo is a smaller shop that has some great pricing and offers flat rate shipping. They often runs sales and coupons. Cheap Ammunition: Bulk & Single Box Ammo at massammo.com

SGammo is great but he holds back a lot of stuff and works price fluctuation in the market which change pricing. Still they are always fair and they ship fast.

Sportsman's guide is good if you buy their membership. You can get Wolf Gold 223 under $.30 around delivered to your door. There are tons of specials all the time and work the coupons to get you the best price.

The Armory is great for Wolf Gold. $299 per 1000 + shipping in an ammo can!

Palmetto State has great specials but they ship slow sometimes depending on volume. Tons of great deals on 223 + Magpul Pmags. You are often getting the mags for free!

AIM surplus has good pricing from time to time but these days I think other people beat them out.

Also do not discount your local Walmart depending on your area. I picked up 500 rounds of 223 for $.32 each including tax. It is the Perfecta which is Ficcochi and the 150 rounds I shot today were flawless plinking ammo and off hand was hitting Minute of Man easily.

9mm, 380 auto & 40 S&W can call be picked up at Wally World for solid prices if you cannot buy in bulk.

I used to buy Freedom Munitions but their QC was not great and there were too many reports of issues. I will say they they replaced the ammo that was bad but there were just too many reports of issues for me to continue to purchase from them.

I agree with using the various internet search engines, as they catch occasional deals.

Also, it doesn't hurt to check the various firearms forums, as some deals get posted about. It was via one of the 1911 forums that I came across the Gearhog .45 acp deal from Freedom ($107 for a box of 500), something I've yet to match again.

Targetsportsusa and SGAmmo tend to be the best on any given day, and SGAmmo has better caliber selection if you're into rifles too.
Sportsmans Guide, if you happen to have the membership, will occasionally toss up a great deal (I got a case of Magtech 9mm for $182 shipped).

I've bought from Bud's a couple of times, too. Best non-case deal on .32 acp, didn't want to buy an entire case for 1 older pistol.
They were also the last vendor to list surplus 7.62x54R ammo at a reasonable price; and they were the place that ran a clearance special on Yavex 9mm (it came out to under $9 a box of 50, for sealed, full power 124 gr 9mm from Turkey).

Recently picked up a case of S&B white box 124gr 9mm from Brownell's for under $200.

I love SGAmmo.com, especially for self defense ammo and www.georgia-arms.com for bulk training rounds. Once in a great while, I'll find a deal on MidwayUSA.com.
