Default Geco Ball Ammo/ Bi-metal bullets?

I have been reading on other forums that the Geco ball ammo
(ie-9mm 124 gr.) has a bi-metal bullet and is attracted to a magnet. Also reports of sparking when the projectile hits the concrete backstops of indoor ranges! Can anyone verify this?
Thanks in advance!

I can't help with 9mm, but I just ran a magnet across 2 different boxes of GECO 45acp 230gr FMJ, and the magnet did not react. So, in 45acp, you'd be good to go. I'll find some time next week to head to the range and see if it sparks on either a rock or a metal target. This weekend is he youth turkey opener, so my boys are the priority....

Slightly. I have thousands of them in all calibers. Great ammo. When I held the 9mm up to a magnet it doesn't stay buy it takes a second to fall. I lost a few checking like that. Don't know if that means it's very mild or what.

Can't help you with range issues. I've never seen mine do that but I've never shot at concrete. Also my range allows anything from 22lr to 50BMG except birdshot and tracers. So I shoot steel case and everything else

It held there for like half a second. I barely had enough time to snap the picture before it fell. To attach it I had to be very careful. You had to touch it to the magnet and careful, gently lift otherwise the round just stayed where it was. This was round 999 because round 1000 didn't stick and fell and rolled under something

I believe that Geco is sourced from a number of different countries, including Switzerland, Germany and Hungary. I've used the Swiss 9mm and the projectile does attract a magnet. The Hungarian and German sourced versions are supposed to be non-magnetic. SG Ammo has descriptions of all three on their web site.

Correct, they come from several different countries

Thanks!
I will stay with the FMJ (Copper) versions. I don't want any grief from my Indoor Range Master, nor my guns!

Can't help you with the range master. As for the ammo, it's good quality, don't see your guns giving you problems.

Yes, the indoor range near me has a strict policy of no magnetic or aluminum ammo. I don't know what the deal is with the aluminum cases, but they have had too many ijuts shoot penetrator ammo that tears up their backstop, so they inspect and magnet test all ammo.

Thanks for the input!
My range is pretty much on the honor system and I would like to keep it that way! NO Geco TP Ammo for me!

Incidentally, after searching a little more on the internet, came up with this:
50 round box - 9mm Luger 124 Grain FMJ Target IPSC Ammo Made in Switzerland by Geco - Magnetic Projectile | SGAmmo.com

I've shot the Swiss made 223/5.56 and it's accurate and as well as the Swiss/Gecco 9mm and does shoot very well out of my Sig P6. Didn't know their 9mm bullets were magnetic. I'll give it the magnet test with some magnets I took out of some computer hard drives those little magnets are pretty powerful for their size. Frank

Most ranges that disallow aluminum cased ammo is due to it being a pain in the behind to cull it out when they sweep the stuff up to sell in bulk as "range brass", usually to ammo re-manufactures.
