Default Cheaper ammo is coming...

I can feel it. I can see it, actually- got a case of Magtech 115 gr FMJ for $190 shipped from Sportsman's Guide.

I just saw on AIM, they have Geco, PPU, Fiocchi and S&B at $9.95 a box of 50; some is in 124gr. If you buy a case of S&B 115gr, that drops to $9.75 apiece.

SGAmmo is peppering my inbox with deals, particularly in 5.56.

I see that J&G has steel-cased .45 acp for $99 per 500 (that's 20 cents a round).

Without getting into politics, I think the vendors expected there to be an unfavorable attitude towards firearms coming out of Washington, or at least planned for that contingency; and now they're sitting on stock that is no longer so urgently needed "now before things change".

I think we're about to see a buyer's market

The local Walmart had a lot of boxes of 22LR in the display case today. First time that's happened in years.

Where are you finding 9mm for 6 cents a round?

I noticed yesterday they had steel-case 9mm FMJ for $8.99/box at Academy. Not that great but improving. Still lots of .22 on the shelves, prices not that great in my opinion. Got some fresh bulk-pack Federal .22 LR at the last gun show for a nickel per. If you consider that good.

Word is that ammo and gun manufactures are laying off workers because gun and ammo sales are down from last year. Gee I wonder why, well not really.
My last trip to Wally's World the shelves were plenty stocked with 22lr and other calibers also. Yes it has been many years since seeing that. I bought three boxes{325 count} of Federal target 22lr for $17.99 per box. Never hurts to restock what we have shot up.

I looked at 500 rounds of steel case .223 for $100 today. Also 500 rounds of .40 for 130. 500 rounds of American Eagle .40 for $150 and I have a coupon for 20% off, there is a $10 rebate and a free tshirt and another rebate for I think 20 off, so I may actually have to suck it up and buy that one.

I went by the local WalMart yesterday and was not impressed with the ammo cases. No .22LR was visable (they may have it under the counter as they have done in the past) and plenty of blank spaces. They did have a good many rifles and shotguns.

$5 Remington rebate at thanksgiving time combined with two $20 off coupons at gander mountain came out to $0.06 a round after rebate.

Remington puts this deal out almost yearly. I was limited to 500 rounds but that was $30 otd once I received the rebate back

So yes $0.06 a round not $0.16

.22 is still hit and miss my area (Central Oregon) and what does wind up on the shelves is snapped up pretty quickly - at least for the bulk stuff. Reloading components are largely in part back to normal.

Will we ever see a decrease in component prices? Almost not worth the time to reload 9mm with a plated bullet.

I think this will be about as good as it gets. Some ammo may drop a little more but probably not by much. I hope it will but I don't see it happening. Retailers still have to pay for space and all that goes along with using a building. Manufacturers still have to buy the raw materials and employees still have to get paid.

I'm all for cheaper and if prices drop more I certainly won't complain but I think we'll be bottoming out soon. As demand decreases so does supply

Still seeing 22 LR at ridiculous prices for inferior bulk product.
This is ammo I want to see come down as well as loading
components. We won't see $1/ 50 box again, but should see it
go down to at least $2/50 box. When the hoarders and scalpers
start to back off, I hope to see the prices drop. The raw materials
for production of ammo is down, energy is stable, there is no
reason for outrageous ammo prices. With politics of clear sailing
it should drop soon. The industry just can't resist taking a cut
at the golden goose. Maybe they will even retask some lines
to make a lot of the brass they dropped, because they could
sell all the para military cals they could pump out to the "Sky
is Falling" crowd.

The 1st thing to get rid of is the HazMat fees.

Oh,don't forget to send the lower prices memo to Gander Mtn.

I am seeing a relatively large amount of ammo being sold off throughout various venues such as gun-related forums with the bulk of it .22 and typical 'black' rifle calibers. There is no doubt hoarders and scalpers (early on) were responsible for the lack of .22. If not retailers would not have had to impose limits and set it out at random and varying times with what little they were getting in.

Got 500 rounds of .22 WMR on-line for $104 shipped free. Been awhile since that price was available. Only have one revolver that shoots it, but better to have more than you want vs. less than you need.

I have Remington 50 count red box 22LR ammo from the late 70's that is marked 99 cents from K Mart. That would be $7.34 in today's money. Maybe we got spoiled with cheap ammo cost.

If it is from Kmart it was overpriced back then and I have no doubt Kmart would sell it for $8-9 a box today

The last couple of gun shows I went to last fall....the vendors were still sitting on very inflated prices for 22 rf. Cabelas and other dealers on the web have had a great selection for the last few months, but still a bit high priced for the supply in the market today. I won't need any for years, but I always check out the availability any time I'm around a gun store.

Last week at Academy CCI was $7.99 per 100 for copper plated .22
Today same store CCI $15.99 per 100 for lead nose!
I walked away empty handed, no more copper plated available.
