Default Is This WWII Era .22 Ammo ?

I have a full box of this Western Supermatch .22 ammo. The end flaps show that it is an Army lot. The bottom of the box says that Western Cartridge Company is a division of Olin Industries, so maybe some of our cartridge collectors can help date it. Any idea on value ?

I'm sure there are more knowledgeable people that will provide better insights but I think this probably dates to late 1940s or early 1950s. Neat box.

I am having a brain rap at present so the date of these boxes elude me. It is not ammo used for military operations as those were made by Remington and were labeled either T-42 and T-24's. Those were made to comply with the Hague Convention and were full metal jacket bullets. The ones you have are for marksmanship training.

Olin Industries callout on Western boxes was 1946-1956.

That would be 1954 (H=1954). The military bought a lot of .22 Match ammunition for service teams, etc. I was on the Navy ROTC rifle team when I was in college, and I fired a ton of the Western Super Match ammunition.

Still remember the Marine Gunnery Sgt who ran the team. We would go in to practice twice a week, and Gunny would give each of us a 1 lb coffee can of loose ammunition, maybe five boxes. And we stayed until we shot it all. We used Winchester Model 52Bs. It could be boring, but at least I didn't have to buy the ammo myself.
