Interesting, but not for me. Always good to have options.

Yes, options can be good but I have no plans to buy any.
The link was sent to me by a guy that thought it was the cat's meow but I see both pros & cons.

I don't understand.

It seems to me as if it might be a better idea to just keep your weapon locked up. There are plenty of those "speed" type safes around that make your weapon secure, but quickly accessible.

In the extreme, there's always the "old school" rule of keeping your weapons and ammunition in separate, locked cases, if they aren't immediately on your person and in your control.

Not in any gun I own. They make gun locks that are easy to disable when a gun is needed. Before all the safety locks came out, and it was mostly DA revolvers a padlock was all that was needed. Just put it behind the trigger guard. This was how I kept my guns at home when I was not home. The rest of the time the kids knew to not touch the gun. I can just see it "Please mister burglar wait will I disengage the safety cartridge?" "Now where did I place that rod?".

ETA

What makes them think the child will not open, and rotate the cylinder before pulling the trigger.

Back in my early LE days, when DA revolvers were still the norm, handcuffs (always had a set with ya) around the top strap was the standard safety device.

"If they find it they will play with it"

Only when you isolate children from guns. Making them a mystery makes children wonder about guns and never touching one means they touch the trigger.

Making guns taboo made our children less safe, not more safe. When I was a child you never heard about children being shot even though there were loaded guns behind the kitchen door all the time. We were taught not to shoot ourselves or anyone else.

I tend to agree. My kids and now g-kids have grown up with guns. They like and enjoy them but there's no mystery in touching them. I'd be more concerned about my kids going to someone's house where guns are taboo and a mishap occurring than around my house where no telling what you might see. Not that I don't secure my guns but it's not so much for my kids as it is other irresponsible folks regardless of age.

Yea - kind of puts the gun into an 'empty chamber' mode - worse actually since I see the potential of a SNAFU with this and rendering the gun inoperable.

Now I understand what they are! (I think) I have picked these up in gun stores several times and studied the package, and have NEVER understood what I was looking at! I always just put them back thinking I must be stupid. Never thought to even "Google" them later on. The short video in the link explains it better. Next time I see one, I'll just walk on by. Not for me either.

Negative for me too.

This makes no sense:
Quote:
The Third Level:
One Safety BulletŪ in the Chamber and the entire magazine loaded with Safety BulletsŪ. Keep another magazine loaded with real rounds next to your gun so it can still be made ready to fire quickly.
Which reads like this:
Quote:
The Third Level:
If you store your unloaded pistol and loaded magazines separate, you don't need our product!

Is it just this cynical old man, or does anyone else have reservations about ad copy heavily sprinkled with exclamation points?

Probably just me.
