Default Anyone tried using Hornaday Match hpbt for hunting?

First of all, I hope I'm in the right thread here, I recently got written up for an infraction on an old post because I wasn't aware of the proper thread.
Anyway I've developed a really good round for my 6.5 Creedmore using Hornaday HPBT bullets which they say should not be used for hunting. The interesting thing here is Berger who makes match grade ammo basically makes the same bullet for hunting as match (a HPBT), also Barnes triple shock bullets while slightly different do pretty much the same thing which is to enter. then fan out expending most of the energy in the animal resulting in a clean and humane kill as opposed to blowing straight through. In my 50+ years of hunting, I've learned penetration is not key so much as the expenditure of energy within the target.
I'm wondering if anyone has tried using these Hornaday Match bullets on Whitetails?

I've used 308 Federal Match ammo with 168 grain Sierra HPBT on Colorado mule deer.

I had no complaints.

Have researched this quickly in the past and I would work up a load using a hunting designed bullet like a Sierra game king for consistent performance.

The Berger bullet they advertise as a hunting bullet is a variation of their target bullet, but it's not the target bullet.

Sierra doesn't recommend their target bullets for hunting because expansion is unreliable. These bullets are not designed to perform like a hunting bullet.

Some years ago, I was unaware of this. I used only the 53 grain Sierra Match King hollow point target bullet in my .223 because it was very accurate. I shot some coyotes with this bullet. About half would drop, but others, even squarely hit, ran off.

I started using the 50 grain Sierra Blitz, a soft point varmint bullet. Big difference in kill performance and just as accurate as the Match King target bullet.

I don't know about Hornady. You can certainly kill game with a HPBT target bullet, but there are better, more humane bullets for the purpose.

From everything I've been told their match grade HP's don't offer the expansion their actual hunting bullets do. Yes, it can be done but you really need to choose the correct bullet for the game you are hunting. For whitetails I would highly recommend the Hornady SST bullet. Very accurate and extremely deadly.

The jacket on a Berger collapses first and then disintegrates explosively. It does not mushroom.

You can not compare a Barnes TTSX to a match bullet. The Barnes will spread out into an X-shape with sharp petals and continue to penetrate. It is rare for a Barnes to be recovered. You will almost always get the complete penetration that the OP seems to dislike.
