Default 80 gr vs 100 gr 243 in the Ruger No. 1 RSI

I wanted to see how well the .243 Ruger No. 1 RSI would shoot so I fitted it with my only modern scope:

Range report is now in for 100 yards
80 gr. Federal Blue Box on the left
100 gr. Federal Blue Box on the right (after over correcting windage)
The 100's might have a tighter group, but they certainly are grouping about three inches lower

I used to sight in my Remington 788 243 Win two inches high at 100 yds with 100 gr Remington Core Lokts. I used a Weaver K4 scope (USA made). Very accurate rifle and loading. I also loaded Hornady 105 gr RN bullets in the 243 Win for shorter ranges found in the Northeast. Always preferred the heavier bullet on deer size game.

I wish I didn't sell that 788 - that was thirty years ago!

I almost always use 100 gr since I can find it and it's reasonably priced. I'd some studying a few years ago and it seems that 95 gr in Superperformance brings forth the fastest, tightest and highest ft/lbs or energy. But the cost comes high to your wallet.
If you're a shoot a box every 4 years, then the price difference is negligible. If you like to shoot a box every month, then it can get real spendy.
I can load for mine, but never do. Just buy commercial ammo. If I ever tried I could probably load up some fine and dandy hand loads but I haven't loaded anything in five years. I'd have to almost start over from scratch on my skills.

I do not reload
If I hunted, either of the two factory loads above would work just fine out to 200 yards after getting the scope zeroed in
